Yeah, fungus diseases are tough to fight. Every year, I grow Momotaro tomato which seems rarely having disease issues. It's also early and crack resistant. The flavor are great too. The other tomato types always have some problems, but I still looking for more trouble free ones with good flavor.
My black raspberry season is almost over. I think the wild black raspberries in my yard are not very good (no berry flavor and sour), so birds barely touch them and I just feed them to chickens. Not even all chickens like it.
I have the same problem with my garlic too, except for elephant garlic (which is actually leek). Not sure what's the cause. I'm thinking cold and raining spring?
What pesticide do you use for Japanese beetles? I don't want to use too nasty stuff, so nothing seems working for Japanese beetles. I applied milky spore in my yard and it worked really good, but it cannot stop the beetles from neighbors' yards. I just use trap and hand catch rest of them.
I...
My winter squash (Sunshine Hybrid Kabocha) plants are loaded now. And my persimmon tree has flower buds for the first time after 4 years in ground! I'm very excited!
No chicken in my flock wants hornworm. All my chickens looked at it and turned their beaks away. They even don't want earth worms. Right now, I get lots of complains about no strawberries for a while and not all chickens love raspberries. They are just too spoiled.
Hopefully, the peace would be there for a long time. It must be hard for you and your family.
Never heard about melon cucumber before. It looks nice. I guess you have fig wasps there? Then you should have great figs to eat! There are lots of nice figs from middle east. I'm considering to add...
The non-stop rain for last 1.5 months caused no strawberries for several days so far. Now it's so hot, some of my young fig plants are fried to death. Water melon plants are struggling too from the cool rain- super hot weather cycle. Most cherries rot and fell with only 3 left on my tree. On the...
Actually, Brownie was the few brown sexlink chick you made from Wheaten Ameraucana x Cal. grey. At that time, all your PA blacks were boys, so I got her. the I only have her photos in my old computer and need to dig them out. She grew up being mostly black with some brown feathers around her...
I start to root fig cuttings now. As a newbie, I made lots of mistakes and got some cuttings to grow leaves but not roots! After the leaves died off, I dug them out and was shocked to find there's no root at all! Anybody have experience about rooting figs? I heard they are really easy but not...
What got me was Delta too! I get Covid regularly every half year after that, but never lost sense of smell again. I think I need to take more supplements. :hmm
I'm not as bad: Completely lost my sense of smell for about 2 weeks, but until today, I cannot smell as good as before. Occasionally smell something wired that doesn't exist.
Does she have wry neck? You can try vitamin E and B Complex for wry neck. Although, I remember one of my vaccinated pullet had the similar symptoms when she's sick from Marek's. She was getting better for a while and was still laying one week before she died. I have only successfully saved one...
I believe my flock already had LPAI two years ago when there was an outbreak in our area. I found a dead sparrow in their run and then most of them got sick with runny nose and sharp decrease of egg production in late spring. Hopefully, the LPAI infection helped them develop antibodies to HPAI.
Never buy anything from Temu or Shein! Here's why: search the topic
"Toxic chemicals in Shein and Temu clothes"
You will see a huge number of reports about finding toxic chemicals in their products. They products don't need to pass any safety standard test, so they are so cheap. While you pay...
I lost my only Silkie pullet to a hawk a few month ago. She was so sweet and was my son's favorite. So I had to order 3 more Silkies for him next year. My coop is so full now! At least Silkies will not roost high with the other girls. Hopefully they will not be bullied too much, or I have to...
