At it again!
18 Guinea eggs from a friend. Up to 20 days old. Hoping for colors!

We just lost our 15 year old cat named Amelia to age and possibly stress from the recent fires. I logged in to find her picture to post an RIP, as I had it saved in BYC. Lo, no more saved pics. I'm pleased to see that another cat bore the same name. It fits a cat well. So sorry your Amelia had...
I can take them :)
We live between Santa Rosa and Windsor, with about 40 chickens on a half acre, goats, cats, and a Kelpie who thinks he's a chicken. He guards them but can be shut away from them if Gander doesn't want him around.
"My" rats won't touch the TSC bait :( they eat other kinds, and will sometimes go in the live trap with no bait. They are BAD this year!
It has been better since we hung the feeders higher and left them empty at night when possible, but our cats are older and I think our dog is friends with the...
Necropsies @ UCD: Goats are $120. Worth every penny. The labs etc. on birds I've sent looked like $1500 worth of stuff. I was told poultry is best done at Tulare location, and will always be free as a public health service.
/bump!
I was wondering if a chicken would sit the longer time a goose egg requires...looks like the answer is yes :)
Now, to find some Shetland or other small goose eggs...
Back to BYC! I've missed you guys :)
I'm happy to see you're still here.
I met someone who would like one small goose to live with his chickens, as a pet not a guard. His mother would not allow him to have a goose as a child, so now is his chance! He has small children, and I was chastised on...
I have some peanuts fresh from Safeway, with A's & Giants' logos..$1 a bag, that are a little too old for humans, definitely too old to be selling! The chickens think they're great, as long as I break them open. I'm distributing them slowly, so no one gets too much.
I was told to use denagard, from valley vet supply, 8-10cc/gal, for the first week of each month. It's expensive, plus I sell organic eggs, so I'll give this a whirl!
Copper sulfate? Where from & how much do you give? I've had mycoplasma on the property and every year a few (out of 40ish) will get sick, and half of those die. I logged in to search resistant breeds (is Isbar?) and found this thread.
Thanks :)
@mlheran Western Farm Center carries King feed, which makes mini pelleted feed. My girls waste less of it. King donates feed to the PPBA show, and all the big show breeders like it.
March hatch; ~18 mixed Marans, hatched 5; 3 cockerels, two hens, splash hen developed sinus infection? at about 16 weeks & had to be put down. Also had 4 Pekin duck eggs, started 1 week ahead for same lockdown date. Two developed, one hatched, Drake, hot after my hens at 20 weeks. Sold with the...
