Long time.. but i'm still hatching!
I've been working on a chocolate ameraucana project, and these eggs are from a black split chocolate rooster over chocolate hens. my bluest eggs of all the hens.i'm looking to hatch the perfect chocolate am male for my next generation. I have 6 eggs right...
Well, turns out one is a male one is a female. The female does have partial lacings coming in.Unexpected,! the male doesn't.I'm undecided on keeping her til point of lay as I did actually hatch out 3 chocolate based ones, which are guaranteed females, and would rather keep a pea combed one.i'll...
They both look like females already just by their combs. I'm just not quite sure if the one on the right is chocolate or not. I can't tell by the down this time. The chest feathers are starting to come in and it looks solid. neither look like they would even have 1 copy of lacings. I'll add...
Hi!
I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of what my chicks might look like. Now,I have a pic of them and their parents below. But I also need to add, that their dad is actually split for chocolate. His mom is a chocolate laced gold olive egger. The chicks are a 5th generation of a line of olive...
Entry #4
My gold laced chocolate olive egger project hen.She is paired with a beautiful gold laced wyandotte boy to improve lacings. Hopefully not darkening her olive eggs too much. But she went broody and waiting for her to resume lay!
Thanks for the invite.. unfortunately have to pass this time. The only 2 hens I want to hatch eggs from, and one is mid molt, the other has 10 wk old chicks she hatched.she molted too but should be done by now. not close to resuming laying though. Hopefully Valentines hatch!
In the incubator,as in they were drying. But the one didn't make it. it's stomach and chest were all yellow inside, maybe infection.the last one is now in the brooder with the rest. my hatch is done. so,21 of 33.
2 are still in the incubator, but 22 of the 33 eggs hatched. all 6 of my leghorn mixes hatched, and all 6 are males. leg shank sexlinked😖 So next batch is set for those. all but 2 oe hatched,it's the wyandottes that didn't hatch as well as I expected.
My Olive eggers and a leghorn mix decided to come early.Still have a ways to go. those wyandotte eggs are bigger. my smaller eggs always seem to hatch sooner.have a couple pips though! love seeing all the new chicks!!
I have the digital one in there too, that came with the incubator. just can't see it lol.
My EE is a gold duckwing color. Just a typical Tractor Supply easter egger.crossed with my leghorn hen chicks will be white with black spots, but sexlinked because of shank color. the egg color will he my...
So,I set 42, but turns out my lavender roo did not fertilize his hens eggs. just noticed he's molting so maybe that's why? So no lavender orps or black split lavender olive eggers. My projects for this hatch are just some chocolate wyandottes, chocolate olive eggers and the whites are a leghorn...
It's been a while since i've been here, but I have some new projects i'm working on and will be setting for a New Years hatch as well! Not sure how many i'm setting yet.
