    Hands on hatching and help

The little cross beak is doing good. We are feeding it and watering it with a dropper right now. Raw egg since it can eat mash yet. Its missing an eye so that doesn't help. I'm almost positive my issue is my temp guage/hygrometer now. I bought some cheap ones and I feel awful. I have cayuga...

    Hands on hatching and help

I've been having really bad luck this time around. I dont know if its my incubator, my fuzzy hatch methods after such a long break, shipping or breeding stock. Maybe all combined. But my last 3 hatches I've only got like 4 out of 12 eggs. Same with this hatch. I only have 3 now. 2 normal and...

    Hands on hatching and help

I decided to open it and check. Its severe cross beak. Its veins haven't receded enough to hatch yet so I'm just waiting now. If I can help it hatch I'm still going to have the challenge of helping it eat. :( ugh I hate ebay eggs. You never know what your going to get. :(

    Hands on hatching and help

hi all, I haven't been here in a couple years. I just recently started hatching again and this hatch has been a nightmare. I need help like asap. This chick had a wrong end pip. I left it alone. After 24 hours hadn't progressed so I helped remove a bit of shell. Bled. Moistened the membrane and...

    Hands on hatching and help

Hey guys I have a broody who has 1 egg left that hasn't hatched. She has stopped setting now. I candled the egg and the chick looks shrink wrapped. It's still alive but no internal pip though I can see it's trying. Anything I can do for it?

Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

I removed a bit more of the membrane from around its face. I've had it dry to the eye before as well. I applied vaseline and put it back. I think it needs more time for sure. Just praying the crazy mama doesn't hurt it. That is soo crazy! This is the first I've ever had it happen too. I have 3...

Hey guys I have a broody cochin mama whose chicks started hatching the day before yesterday. She is fine with the chicks when they are under her but as soon as the pop out where she can see them she attacks them. I've started taking the chicks as they hatch. This morning one of the eggs that had...

Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

That's what I thought with my geese. My drake is about the size of a call and my gander is triple his size. Try as he might he couldn't get the drake off the gosling. Glad I was out there to see what happened. My poor babies! That is crazy!!! I went to evergreen from kindergarten to 8th grade...

Yes. None local at all. I hatched these but my incubator took a poo.. I think I'll try what I have and then if it comes down to it bargain with my husband lmao.. I think I'm going to research it a bit more to make sure I know what I'm doing. Mine is strange. He does not over mate his hen. I've...

They are so cute. But expensive and hard to find. Holderreads has them but my husband doesn't is not a duck/chicken person so getting more is like pulling his leg lol. Yeah redding is no my favorite place. It's so hot here. But I grew up in cottonwood so it's hard to leave all our family and...

Ok guys I have to get rid of my silkie drake. Super bummed as I wanted more with his feathering. However I've caught him trying to rape my goslings twice now. I have the 3 babies I've hatched of his. Is it safe to do a sibling breeding?

Guard Goose...to coddle or not to coddle? That is my question.

I bonded with mine and while he can be aggressive when he and his mate have babies the rest of the time he is a total lover.

So far one hatched. 1 is externally pipped and one left that's internally pipped. She is at work now but hopefully the one will be hatched when she gets home! :fl
