Thnks mate. Mostly it's been rq/br cross like this first pullet, but my Kelso hen hatched a few crosses too. I need a grey cock, a grey hen and a red-quill hen so i can get 3 pure lines going and maybe cross a few up next season.
At least a couple of those hens should get broody, but if not i'll just use the 'bator.
This is my 1/2 red-quill + 1/2 brown-red yard stag. He's not a year old yet but he's already a brute. Might let him breed next year. First pic is a couple months old.
Missed you guys. Thought I'd share my new Kelso & Murphy with y'all. I was told they were 2 years old. I already have a Kelso hen on the yard so I'm gonna breed this boy across her, the Murphy & my brown-red.
Restricting public use of lands by Federal appropriation is in and of itself neither conservation nor salvation. Without a dire need or circumstance driving the decision, it is governmental overreach.
I don't think ZerO had any business declaring public lands as National Parks the way he did. There was nothing in it for the local populations other than a hokey feeling of wonder and awe from liberals for a neo-liberal. At best it was all done to boost his legacy under false pretense of vague...
Almost finished the mega-pen, before the rain started yesterday. Good enough reason to try out this little wide angle clip-on lens for my phone. Still gotta finish the roof and a few spots. The run is 16x20 and the hen house is 16x8, divided in half.
Impressive. How old are they now? My twin-mother hen chicks handled a couple of nights in the 40's at two and three days old. The hens had them covered on the ground & I was afraid some of them wouldn't make it. I was proven wrong, yet again.
I only have one adult male on the property. No stags, just new chicks. I let him & one hen out the other day. Left the pen door open & while my head was turned my 8wk old pup wandered in there, disturbing my setting wheaten hen. She chased him out right to Tucock, & they started gangbanging that...
One thing mine haven't taken to is the little red cup with the yellow toggle valve. Glad I only bought one because that thing is useless. Nothing but overhead drippers in my pens from now on.
