    Pullet sneezing for 9 weeks

One of my chicks started sneezing at five days old and hasn't stopped. Sometimes it gets worse and she wheezes for a day but usually she is bright eyed and bushy tailed and she is growing like a weed. There is some clear liquid in the sneezes but no thick mucus and her eyes look great. I have...

Roost and nesting box height for bantams

My banties like to fly up and sit in the eaves of my coop some of the time. My nesting boxes have a ramp about three feet high so I can comfortably reach inside without bending and the birds do just fine. I use old ladders as roosts and as long as the girls can hop each step they can get...

I didn't know there were rose comb leghorns, how cool. I'll look into the dominiques since you mentioned them. Thank you.

Small comb, non broody, layer suggestions?

Thank you, I usually order from Meyers hatchery and am hoping to order more soon. I'm definitely looking at the Barnevelder, Wyandotte, and plymouth rock. I was thinking about a polish just for fun too. I have a Buckeye and Favorolle and Speckled sussex. The first two of those are still young...

Small comb, non broody, layer suggestions?

I have had trouble with frostbite despite traditional measures to stop it. I have a pre existing cinder block coop that isn't well insulated and is partly built into a hill so gets seepage when it rains or snow melts. I added a heat lamp last year and a thermo cube and that seemed to help a lot...

    Possible broken/sprained/fractured foot/toe

After more than a month of trying to remove the infection and only getting partial success in her toes I had to put her down. It broke my heart because she had become so docile and was otherwise healthy.

Which breeds are the most docile & best pet hen chickens? My hen is lonely! She's a 1yr old Barred Rock who's very sweet & a great friend!

My bantam D'uccles have been very very sweet and I have had three now. They got along with my other hens well too. I had two Appenzellerspitzhaben's and they are really loud but very very sweet too.

    House Chicken?

Are those recent pics? Those birds are much younger than three to five weeks old. More like a week or two I would guess. I work really hard to raise very friendly birds and make sure to hold all mine everyday. During the first week we do a nap time everyday wrapped in an old t shirt on my lap...

Chick won't stand on splayed leg

How far apart are the legs? Can you post a picture? Usually to correct splay leg you support the legs with some sort of vetwrap, yarn or something to make little shackles then shorten the distance the legs are apart every few days. The first few days were hard on my chick, I had to make sure it...

Moving Chicks Into a Coop with Hens

Do you have an area you can block off for them in the coop area? Or maybe a cage they can be in that you can put inside the run/coop? It really helps to give them some time around the others but safe from them so everyone has time to get used to being together.

Respiratory issue, breathing sounds watery help.

Her breathing seems completely normal today. Could there have been an obstruction?

Respiratory issue, breathing sounds watery help.

I will try and get a video of her breathing, she is a very very vocal bird and always has been, she is complaining loudly from the basement now and I can hear her in the dining room where I am typing now. So she is definitely getting plenty of air at this point.

    Foot issues.

What supplies are you using? I understand, I'm hoping to remove some infection from one of my hens today but it depends on my husband's schedule too since I need someone to hold her steady.
