Great build! I can relate to the unique challenges that come along with building (with limited experience) and disappointed dogs. That said, your chickens are living the life. Enjoy your new flock!

My chicken chasers spent the night at grammas...so this is the best I can do, but I think it’s a rooster! Oh boy. Also, this is the second set of Cochins identified as Brahmas we have received. Thanks for the pea comb tip! I read Brahmas we’re not usually white. I love the Cochins. They are...

    Breed and sex

Is this a Brahma or a Cochin? And...is it a roo? They were hatched in mid March. The bird doesn’t crow at all, but does strut around like s/he owns the place. Also has a much more developed comb than the other one we have like it. If it is a rooster, when do they start to crow? I need to know...

We have been feeding her a special mash 3 times a day, in addition to what she gets from the feeders and...

Hey all! Shouting out a big "Hello!" from Iowa.

Thanks for the links! Yes, I am patient and very respectful of the commitment. Plus I'm only marginally handy so I figure it will take me all summer to build them a place to live!

Hey all! Shouting out a big "Hello!" from Iowa.

This forum is fantastic! So much to read and learn. I do not have any chickens yet, but we are building the coop this summer so we can be ready to welcome chicks next spring. We want to keep 6-8 laying hens and I'm excited to learn from all of you.
