Wow, I've never heard of such a thing. Chicken permits, REALLY?!! Gawd, NJ really sucks! Come move to Bayville, it's like the Wild West here. You can have whatever you want.
MPC gets many of their chicks from Meyer.
MPC is awesome, I've used them several times and always had a great experience. Meyer is supposed to be very good as well.
I was drinking coffee and surfing the net, and just thought it was a strong gust of wind, or a loud garbage truck. Never even looked up. My neighbor across the street said he felt shaking and the pictures on his walls rattled.
None of my dogs even seemed to notice. We are all very unobservant...
I totally agree with all your predictions! Those little combs look male to me. And the others, their little faces look female. They are SO CUTE! Seramas are the sweetest little chickens. 💖
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I did start her on the Vit E daily, and it actually is very easy to pill a chicken, at least with the gel caps! Go figure! I have been giving her egg, I probably didn't mention that. I'm going to start her on the Vit B complex tomorrow.
So far she's been...
Thank you very much! I just ordered some vitamins. It seems to be nutritionally related. So weird that it worsens at night. I've never given a pill to a chicken, aren't those Vit E pills huge?
No mushrooms. My girls don't free range. I do have an enclosed area that I will let then out of the runs occasionally, but there are definately no mushrooms there.
What's weird is that it happens at night.
Starter/grower (I had a rooster so that's what I fed them all) with supplemental oyster shells and grit. Occasional scratch. I've only been giving her more scratch and mealworms during the times this happens.
I've been giving her Nutridrench once a week since she got better.
So my Silkie, Big Bird, is 6 and a half. She is vaccinated for Marek's, and I've had her since she was a day old.
A few months ago, she started doing this occasionally. At night I would find her outside in the run, laying on her back, unable to get up. I would pick her up, put her in the coop...
Ha, now I know for sure that MyPetChicken gets their chicks (or at least their d'uccles) from Meyer, because 7 available just popped up on their site too, and they have been out of them forever!
Meyer has them! I just ordered several. What you have to do is put in "notify me" with your email for when they are available, and then they send you an email when there are some available. They usually sell out ridiculously fast, within minutes. So you have to repeat this every time so you get...
Hi, may I join the cult of d'uccles? I too love them, my favorite chicken of all time is a delicious 6 yo MFD named Flower (original, I know). I have been wanting more for years...got a couple a few years back from a local breeder but they died at several weeks of age. I have been unsuccessful...
