    Khaki Wheezing

Me too. It just takes a lot of weight off. I hate seeing when they are struggling.

    Khaki Wheezing

I know it's been a while, but I thought I would update again. I had to leave the last couple days so my brother took care of her. She is doing so much better. She is no longer breathing heavy, and she escaped the separate pen to try to get back with the flock, so he just put her with everyone...

    Khaki Wheezing

I don't think it's fully over yet, since she still is breathing hard. But she's actually quacking and drinking and she wasn't doing that yesterday. At least what I saw. I'm still keeping her separated and monitoring her

    Khaki Wheezing

Just wanted to give an update. I separated her last night from the rest of the flock and gave her water and wet food with DE. She's foraging this morning.

    Khaki Wheezing

I don't have a vet that does birds. I separated her from the rest of the flock and encouraged her to drink a little. I also gave her some wet food with DE sprinkled on it. I'll see if she makes it through the night. If I find/do a dewormer then I will know which eggs are her's.

    Khaki Wheezing

I can't tell if it is respiratory or not. I tried listening to her lungs but all I can hear is the wheezing in her throat. There is no drainage from her nose or eyes. I'm not sure about trying any dewormer because none of them sound like they will be useful since the works can get used to...

    Khaki Wheezing

I don't have a vet that does birds. Would the rest have it too or is it normal to only have 1 bird with it?

    Khaki Wheezing

I felt along her throat and I didn't feel anything. I tried to gently put my finger down her mouth but she definitely resisted and I didn't want to hurt her.

    Khaki Wheezing

Okay I think I did the video right. She's moving some but not super active. I think I'll separate her so that the male doesn't try to mount her.

Okay. I am about to leave, but I will look at uploading it.

    Khaki Wheezing

Hello. I hope I am putting this in the right thread. I just came in from checking my birds and one of my Khaki hens is doing a wheezing/gasping sound. She's still moving around, but I haven't seen her eat or drink yet. I came right in to do some research. I took some videos but I can't get...

    Emergency help sick hen!!

Hmm I had a leghorn do that. She was almost 6 years old so she didn't pull through. But she went for a couple days where her comb was almost all blue and then less. I always thought is was lack of oxygen. Have you tried looking up blue comb? I found an article but it is more common in the...

Review by '' on item 'EcoGlow 20 Chick Brooder'

I LOVE this thing! It has been so handy this past year. Not only does it keep the chicks from getting too warm, the water doesn't heat up either. It also works great as a brooder. I assisted a chick and a duckling and I couldn't put them under the hen, so I made a bowl out of wood chips and...

    Rusty my dog

He's a sweet looking dog. Shock collars do work if used correctly. I also have had a very tough hen peck on cats and dogs that are too interested. With a few rare exceptions, most give the chickens more space after that. My dog is like a nanny to them. I have to be careful when she wants to...

Four 7 Wk Old Chicks + Cold Nights

I did the same thing with my ~5 week old chicks. We are in TN and it is supposed to be in the 30's at night. The run they are in has walls and I (without realizing it) positioned the coop so the wind isn't blowing in. I also put a heat lamp out there. They seem to be doing fine. Are you...

    Share Duck Pictures and Stories?

I agree. His name was Archie. One out of our big group of ducks, but he still will be missed. Does anyone here have khakis? These are mine. This picture was taken in April. I'm loving the personalities (and eggs)!!:ya:love

I'm not sure. It was either a coon or a owl. My brother found him in the morning and his neck was gone other than his spine, but nothing else was damaged. He died protecting his girls.

I actually just lost a duck to a predator which will have been my first in ~4 years of having birds. It was actually Nip, Nibble and Bill's daddy.:hit

I hatched out 3 ducklings in September. These are them at 9 weeks and full feathered and quacking. I have two buff orpingtons and one buff/cayuga named Nip, Nibble and Bill. They are almost as talkative as my Khakis. :love

    Question about Baby Rooster

Okay so I have a quick question. We had a hen hatch out 7 eggs around 2 months ago. I think we have 4 hens and 3 roosters. If I wanted to keep one of the roosters with the hens, would that work? They share the same father, but different (I think) mothers. I always thought you don't want...
