I'm starting to think Tiny might be one of those "micro" Serama chickens and that makes me sad as I've read they have shorter lifespans.
I've had him since April 27th and he hasn't gotten any bigger since. In fact, my friend who came with me to get him said he looks the same size
Lost 2 chicks over night.
I went to let the hens & chicks out of the brooder coop and found them just laying there next to the hens.
I'm wondering if something was wrong with them and the hens knew
We have 6 chicks total!
I kind of expected it to happen but they kicked out the last 3 eggs before they were done hatching so they got too cold to continue.
I should have stuck them in the incubator to finish hatching but I thought they'd stay on them long enough
After all the chicks are hatched and dried, I'll be posting photos of all of them plus photos of the hens to see if you all can determine who might be the mama of who.
Doesn't matter to me but I think it would be fun to guess
The second hen has 4 chicks in total plus 4 more eggs that are still going. I'll be checking on them throughout the day to make sure nothing happens.
I can hear chirps from 2 of the eggs.
Once all the hatching is done, I'll let you know how many hatched in total
I got a nice surprise when I went out to refill the waters.
The black hen in background has the first chick.
The second hen is still in the nest with the second chick.
I'm waiting to see if there's more.
I'm happy to see little Scouts running around!!!
Updates from me.
No urinary issues for Archie but we still can't figure out what caused his prolapse. We still have a few things to do that may help figure it out.
I've decided to go with what the vet said was okay and add even more wet food into his diet.
The broody hens should be hatching...
The vets are getting more urine from Archie.
The results from the last test had crystals pop up but she said that because it had been sitting before being testing, it's possible for the crystals to have formed.
I know it isn't good but I'm hoping that the urine issue is what caused his anal...
In case anyone was wondering why Archie is in a cone, he had another prolapse involving his butt.
The vets and I are trying to rule out everything.
They got his urine and blood to do testing.
