    Animal Sacrifice Noises

Also, just saying, the police have real crimes to be worrying about. They HAVE to respond to your call. How much of a shame would it be if a robber got away or someone who harmed another person got away because you were worried about some kids playing music down the street. :hmm

    Animal Sacrifice Noises

I live in NY too and I see fires all the time. Hear people singing all the time. Hear people talking all the time - even gunshots, heaven forbid! And we don't even have any visible neighbors! But, guess what? No one's ever gotten hurt, my property has never been touched, my animals are fine...

    Silkie? Any Idea?

They were probably around a week when we got them in June, so probably 4 to 6 months right now!

    Silkie? Any Idea?

This is Bonnie & Clyde. We think they are both roos, which is fine as we live out in the country and mom loves crowing, oddly enough. I was just wondering if there's any chance they could be hens? Sorry the pics are so far away; they're very respectful of my space, and since we think they're...

    Finch's Shameless Chicken Spam

She's actually a California White, which is a hybrid of a California Grey x (white) Leghorn. She is a favorite of mine, well and truly. So much personality - she's the only one who will come right up to a camera and stick her face in the lens, such a busybody. She's a great forager and seems to...

    Finch's Shameless Chicken Spam

Hi there everyone! This is going to just be a place where I post my chickens. I really wanted a place to just dump photos / videos when I take them, so here we go! Let's start with my Australorp, who doesn't QUITE know how to express how happy sunbathing makes her appropriately :lau Here are...

    Donating Eggs? (Upstate NY)

Thank you for the advice everyone. I've gone ahead and messaged a couple of food banks near me. One of them serves free walk in breakfast on the weekends, hopefully they take fresh eggs! :wee

    Donating Eggs? (Upstate NY)

So... this is probably a weird question since most people are here looking up laws on selling eggs, but I'm wondering if any organizations accept dozens of donated eggs? I'm not even sure how I would go about it. I have a lot right now and don't really need any extra income from selling their...

    Donating to Contests?

    Thank you @ronott1 ! :D

    Donating to Contests?

Okay this is going to be such a dumb question, but how do you go about donating to official contests? I'd love to give a small runner up prize for the contests with prizes / sponsor a membership. I'm just not sure how to go about it. I was also wondering if self-run contests are allowed to...

    ESA certification

You're actually right and wrong. If you stopped someone from renting because they had an ESA, that's discrimination. So long as there is proper documentation, they can be housed in any (proper) housing with their owners. So long as the owner can own the animal (so no exotics/etc), and the animal...

My first Silkies... I'm beginning to think they are thick!!

I have two silkies, but they weren't raised any differently from my other chooks. They don't really seem any different. Maybe it's just because I never really treated them differently? I kinda just expected them to be chickens. They're not any more or less smart, they know how to do...

My new pet rat. Meet Earl...

Pet rats! My time has come! Things always go in and out of fashion with pets, but my go-to was always oxbow's rat food. NOT their mouse and rat formula, this one: https://m.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=16965 Cardboard boxes and fleece will be your best friend ;) honestly...

cats scared of chickens and chickens killed kitten! what should i do????

Unless you have gigantic cats or bantam chickens, or both, surely it would be possible to make a small rectangular space with some wood and wire with a low opening that the cats could easily slink under, but the chickens could not? Considering how bendy cats are.

I know I JUST had you guys help solve a crisis but LOOK AT THIS , help please

... Can you please follow your own motto? I didn't quote you. I didn't tag you. I said nothing to you. I have never even seen you before - who are you? If you thought I was talking to you, I'm sorry. I don't know what gave you that impression. Killing an animal not in pain for aesthetic reasons...

I know I JUST had you guys help solve a crisis but LOOK AT THIS , help please

I don't really understand what inbreeding has to do with this? Usually extra body parts have nothing to do with inbreeding... a lot of the time extra limbs and whatnot can be contributed to parasitic twins or the like. Extra cellular material... I'd be willing to bet that even if you bred him...

Would appreciate input on killing a baby - legs don't work

The rat fan club is not exactly accepted within the rat community either. Just throwing that out there as a rat person myself; they're seen as a bit... Uh. Extreme. Like, "how to remove tumors at home," give med advice (not just general livestock antibiotics like on here, either - like how to...

    Flying with Chicken?

If you're going to be traveling by air and can't find an airline that will take her, perhaps you could try contacting any boats making the journey and see if they could ship her over? Or maybe you could take a boat yourself? I would try contacting a site like My Pet Chicken (MPC) and seeing if...

    Every Night...

This is Red. Every night, when I go to put the chickens in the coop, the second she hears the front door open, this happens. She never does this when I go outside during the day, only at bedtime. Such a funny chikky.
