    Placement of coop in yard

If it were me, I'd choose your second option - I like to have a line of sight to the coop. Needs to be a bit removed for me to be happy though - especially if you're planning on meat birds. Though they grow fast to point of processing, they can create quite a stink as they literally eat and...

Who is laying the olive egg? added picture

Quote: Marans crossed with a blue egg layer will give you an olive egg... If you have supposed marans that look like mixes - one of them is probably your culprit x 2

    My new coop!

Quote: x 2 - also enables them to sit on their feet while roosting - reduces frost bite in cold winter areas. Love your coop!

pic 4 is a cockerel - look at that stance and demeanor, haha - little baby stink eye! (not to mention those nice red comb and wattles). i would guess that your millefleur is also a cockerel. btw, chick in pic 2 is absolutely ADORABLE!

    Perfectly formed babies died!

So sorry about your babies. Here's a link to Pete55's sticky on hatching: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=491013 It's a very good read. I've noticed that many people have an incomplete understanding of the process, and Pete makes it very understandable. Obviously...

Did your hens start laying later than 24 weeks? Help frustrated!

From this year's hatch I still have one olive egger that hasn't begun to lay - 37 weeks. Her sister just began giving me gorgeous olive eggs about a week ago. I was beginning to wonder, but it's worth the wait - I love those olive eggs!

    A little disapointed

Mine have really sweet personalities (they are the ones who will always tolerate my granddaughter carrying them around the yard), and one is a great little broody mama, but I don't find them impressive as egg layers. Their other qualities will probably be enough to insure that I always keep a...

    brinsea 20 eco?

I love my Brinsea Eco. I have the (optional) turner, but as already mentioned, the whole unit is shaped to be turned easily by hand. It's a very good little incubator, extremely user friendly, holds temp. well, and when opened and closed humidity recovers quickly. I'm definitely a fan.

    Broody Mama hatching late chicks

If it were me, I'd leave her with the flock and move the nest to a lower spot. This is how I currently have a broody with four chicks (several weeks old now). They are all integrating beautifully. You would need to keep an eye out initially for any aggression, but you'd be surprised how well...
