I have a question. So earlier this year, I bought some eggs from a breeder that seemed very reputable. Unfortunately, only a few developed and I ended up with 4 chicks... 2 cockerels and 2 pullets. The boys look good so far from what I can tell, but the girls look different. I put one of my...
I noticed one of my hens foot was swollen on the side, so I assumed bumblefoot. I did my research on how to treat bumblefoot and couldn't find any information on the side of the foot, but got my supplies ready and made sure I didn't eat right before. 🤣
I soaked her foot in warm Epsom salt water...
I had a broody polish mama hatch out 4 babies. They're currently about 2 weeks old. Coop is an enclosed run with ladder up to coop box. When broody mama got to "lockdown", we blocked off the top of the ladder so she could have some privacy in the coop box, leaving 2 other polish hens exiled to...
Forewarning: This post lies somewhere between "Could there be something wrong?" and "I'm trying to be patient, but come on!".
I've wanted blue eggs for so long and earlier this year, I happened to be at the right place at the right time and a local guy was selling a hatch of John Blehm's true...
Now that you mention buttercup, I completely agree. It's a messy buttercup, but it has formed VERY similarly.
I went back and looked at a few younger pictures of him and its wild what changes he's gone through, but that comb just continues to grow. Ike has always been Mr. Personality. hahaha!
Back in April, I scooped up a few different polish chicks from the TSC bin. I ended up with 2 white crested black pullets, 1 silver laced pullet, and this monster of a silver laced cockerel. Ike is a gorgeous boy, but I have noticed that his comb is just a mess. I've looked online for pictures...
You all have confirmed my suspicions AND my long-running "luck of 4". Anytime I have 4 of a breed, they'll turn out to be 1 pullet and 3 cockerels. :barnie:lau
These 4 beauties have been the biggest thorn in my side to sex. They're currently 12 weeks old and one is very obviously a pullet, and one is very obviously a cockerel, but the other 2 are somewhere in the middle and I'm just confused. :idunno What are your thoughts?
Thanks in advance! :frow

I have limited experience with breeds, but I love my silver laced wyandottes. Friendly, great egg layers, and I give them credit for never pooping on our driveway when we let them free range. I think they know better.
My ameraucanas are super skiddish, but beautiful birds. I love their "beards"...
