Excellent! Bravo! Can hardly wait to get started today. You put the last nail in the coffin. I love every word and nuance. I'll be studying and applying most of these techniques for a life time of love in managing my cockerels. As I intently read the first time, I saw so many of my young...

Please help! What should I do? I need help now!

You must stop beating yourself up. We are here for you. You are new to this, most of us have had similar novice experiences along the way inone instance or another.... Relax, keep the membrane moist, remove the other chicks to the brooder with a heat lamp, food, water, and try to rest easy. You...

    Nervous- Early Hatch

As with most of life, the timing is only an estimate. Every batch or birth has it's own set time for maturation. I'm so happy for you and your newborns. Congratulations!

Yes in deed. I just learned of it today and man I am enjoying myself? I started at the beginning of the thread. You are so humorous, yet so "real" - I like that; keep up the good work.. It's past my bedtime now, and I plan to read more tomorrow. Be blessed and have a good night.

    Gutted!

As fate would have it I now have three "stag pens"; I paid for 22 three week old " pullets", nine "turned into" roos. A great disappointment, but, I've kept them all; me thinks culling time is on the horizon - as I already had 4 roos of different breeds. It's too much testosterone for my little...

Congrats - job well done to all involved. My hens never go broody; never, but I still love them.

Thank you for the warning as my grands will be traveling here from Maryland to pet Nana Pudd's birds. My 3 RIR roos have never acted aggressive toward humans; if they did, well, let's just say I have a new roaster for any misbehaving rooster.

My girls are quite talkative too. Each has their own personality and voice. I can actually tell who's "talking" with my eyes closed. Big Red is THE BOSS - no questions about it. Haven't tried and don't want to introduce any others to this flock, since they get along so well.

Sorry to hear your brood is mistreating you; mine only peck my boots if there's wasted grain on them. Had to train them to wait patiently for treats, but it wasn't easy - they're too smart for their own good. Now, my girls are very well-mannered - in and out the coop.

Wish I knew what to do to get any of my RIRs to go broody. I've tried so many failed things I decide to leave them alone. My Pekins make up for what the RIRs lack. I'll be raising more soon as I bought two incubators.

Put mine next to my Pekin duck eggs and the RIR won. So, heck yeah they can be jumbos. I love 'em. My 3 roos are excellent gentlemen, too.

    The Old Folks Home

Being the youngest of 6 siblings, I can truly and personally relate to Peanut. Those 4 brothers of mine tried their best to get the better of me, but I was always quick in body and mind. Now, we've all slowed down, but I'm still the quickest. Yeah me!

Thank you, it's good to be seen. Glad to see you, too. I love all you Cluckers and Quackers so much. All of you are so mind blowing smart. Whew..., if only I could wrap all this knowledge up I would bank it and live off the interest. Happy as a June bug on the 4th of July to be able to say "hi...
