    Texas

anybody in Central Texas? I'm not new to chickens (2019 start) but I am new to Belton/Temple and city chicken keeping. I'm not quite used to city regulations; thought I did my homework before I bought my house. Got a visit from code enforcement which panicked my daughter with autism who code...

Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Thanks for the prompt. I'm living in Louisiana, but preparing to move to Central Texas...lots of research and taking my five hens with my family(Bell County, TX). Next month starts the move, chickens moving last (we have to secure the backyard for these five "new to the city" hens). They are...

I've had two Omlet cubes, purple and green. One has a run and wheels, the other does not...just wheels. Six hens now. They free range. The fence is to keep the free-range neighborhood dogs out and the chickens in. The Omlet is movable...anywhere it goes in the yard=home. We looked at...

    Raccoon Apocalypse

We live in West Louisiana, and we've had Raccoon issues, too. We have 2 chicken tractors *sleeps 4-5. We're studying our trail cam footage. We have a four foot chain link fence, a deterrent, but not preventive. Dog helps--14 yr old heeler mix. We have lost one (ate everything but the...

where do your chickens like to be scratched?

A couple of my buff orpington like having their backs scratched, and they raise their hinies in the air like my dogs and cats. The other six chickens don't like it. It's funny. I''ve only had chickens since August of 2018, so it's all new to me.

Comment by 'ChickenQuilt' in article 'How To Clip Trim The Feather Wings Of Your Chicken To Prevent Flight'

Thanks for this info. My husband and daughter caught half the eight (buff orpington) chickens and clipped their wings. As they have flown over the fence, we've caught them one by one. As a previous post stated, "catching them was harder than clipping." Three more to go.

    Omlet coops.

I have an eglu cube to start with; buff orpington pullets. They are large birds. I called Omlet and they recommended four to a lg cube. We have nine pullets. At 13 weeks, It's getting crowded. We will likely have to buy another coop and split them up.

    I'm new here...

Hi; new to chickens, but not new to chicken stories. My great grandparents raised them for food in CO, OK, AR and then CA where they ended up in the 1930's. I grew up in Los Angeles, married an Army soldier and now live in Louisiana (that other 'LA'). It was a job-transfer move for my...
