I don’t ferment in winter but when it warms up I use about 5 buckets. I line them up set them fermenting a few days then start feeding one bucket/ day. After feeding the empty bucket is set up again at the end of the line. This allows the feed to ferment for 5 days. Just my 2¢
It was in the mud so it was filthy until I rinsed it off with cold water. Though there’s no sign of a waxy coat and it’s smaller I’m operating under the assumption that today’s two eggs were also duck eggs. I might need to get a coop camera of some sort

Yesterday I let my birds out at about 6:30 then worked on feed, water, fodder, and coop chores for about 90 mins and went to check for eggs as iv been doing for since they were way to young to lay. This is my first flock and I’m learning as I go.

I did not know that they had this tendency. I never ordered my two crested ducks they arrived unordered from the hatchery as day olds. I’m just now realizing that I never looked up their breed specifics rather I just raised them with my Pekins. I guess that’s a good place to start.
