Sick Chicken??? Fairly new at this.......

You may want to separate her from the others so that you can better observe her and allow her to rest and recover from whatever it is that may be wrong. Keep watching to make sure she is eating and drinking plenty and that her poo is in the "normal" range. You can search for "poo chart" or...

**VIDEO** Wheezing Chick with Labored Breathing...Tylan or Baytril?

Perfect! Thank yall so very much again. I will continue with the Tylan 50 for four more days to be safe. Eggcessive, she is from My Pet Chicken. She's been napping most of the day and occasionally tucks her head under her wing. I've also seen her preening a bit. Surprisingly, she's been...

**VIDEO** Wheezing Chick with Labored Breathing...Tylan or Baytril?

Thank you so much for all of the responses. Does anyone know how long/often I should give the Tylan? I gave her .1cc and am hoping that is the correct dosage for a chick her size. Can anyone confirm that number? Eggcessive, I have no clue what this could be. I have never dealt with anything...

Help whats wrong with my Chicken? Scabs all over its head!

Are the sores round or wart-like? If so, it could be a bad case of fowl pox. If it is fowl pox, it will likely go through the flock. Hopefully someone can help you figure this out. :)

**VIDEO** Wheezing Chick with Labored Breathing...Tylan or Baytril?

1.) Two-month old ee bantam; not sure about her weight, but she doesn't seem emaciated. 2) She's wheezing with each breath, and I can hear a little rattling. Tonight, along with the wheezing she is open mouth breathing. Since I have separated her she seems more lethargic. No discharge or other...

    M I Crooked Letter Crooked Letter...ahh, nevermind....Mississippi

Beaks of Hazard, I have ordered from My Pet Chicken. I notified the local post office ahead of time to let them know when to expect the chicks. They called to let me know when the chicks arrived first thing that morning. So, I guess to answer your question: hatch day (1) + (1) day in transit =...

Designer Chic, That is an awesome picture of Ricky! I can't believe how manly he's gotten in just a few weeks!!! To anyone that may be interested in him, I can guarantee that he is coming from an unbelievable home and a clean flock! I too, would love to take him off of your hands, but just so...

    avian pox

Yes, I'm using something called Vetericyn Ophthalmic Gel. I don't really know how much good it is doing, but I figured that it wouldn't hurt. Keep in mind, though that the virus will have to run its course and this will not speed that process. As I mentioned before, just make sure that it can...

    avian pox

Just make sure she is eating enough. Try scrambled eggs... Really, anything that she is willing to eat. I had to tube feed one of mine that was unable to eat. You may also have to try to scrape the lesion off of her mouth. Keep her isolated and lots of tlc.

    avian pox

So glad to hear that they are feeling better! Yes, the virus tends to be slow-spreading, which unfortunately draws it out. Just when you think it's gone, another one gets it! Hang in there! I know exactly how you feel. :)

    avian pox

Welcome to BYC! Yeah, it sounds like you have pox too. The eggs are fine to eat as long as you are not medicating your chickens. For the mosquitoes, you could probably spray the area with some Permethrin. I would do it when the chickens are not around and allow it to dry before they re-enter.

    I NEED HELP PLEASE.......

I've never dealt with anything like this, but I wouldn't give up on her yet. Keep the wound clean and maybe pack with Neosporin (w/out pain relief) and bandage. I would also get her on an antibiotic of some sort. Maybe someone with more knowledge in this area will chime in...Good Luck!
