At this point, electrolytes or apple juice are going to be your best help. It looks like the chick may have already given up. But if you can somehow get the chick to perk up, then you can brace the legs. But I would not worry about it unless the chick perks up. I would suggest small drops of...
I am leaning towards white also!! I have read that if they are silver based white, that is what can cause the silvery looking color at hatch, until they start growing their white feathers in! I would take a guess that is what is going on with this cute. Sure is a cutie 🥰
Some of the eggs (any number between 1-24) will be going into lock down on Monday! (I put them in lockdown one day early because I find my little bantams usually hatch one day early.) I will candle them again before putting in lockdown! Only a few short days and chicks will be here 🥳
As others have said, keep her separated from the males and either get rid of them or have them in their own space permanently. Until you have 4-6 girls, I wouldn’t introduce a rooster back.
If you want to move her to your broody area and see if she stays broody (it does sound to me like she is...
Hybrids are often considered healthier because they have more diverse genes. Sorry your EE haven't been though! I raise silkies and silkie crosses, so I don’t have much suggestion for you. I feel pretty lucky though because my silkies have always been really healthy. My two oldest girls are 5...
It probably would not hurt to treat for a burn - if you have an aloe Vera plant, or a natural aloe Vera gel you could apply to the feet. Could even get a little ice pack and wrap a towel around it and see if she wants to sit on it.
Hopefully someone will have good advise for you. My initial thought is just wondering if her feet could have been burned on hot pavement? What a cutie, I hope she recovers well!!
Thank you! Definitely not a perfect SOP boy, but I am happy to have him because lavender silkies are just ridiculously hard to get ahold of. I don’t know if he has split wing or just loose wings. His brother’s wings looked the same. The silkie hen that has eggs in the incubator has nice, tight...
A few pictures of my lavender boy. I had two boys that were basically identical twins (they came from hatching eggs from the same breeder.) But I rehomed the second boy last week. So these babies will be the offspring of those two boys. Probably actually more from the boy that I no longer have...
I have seen those crazy saddled air cells on shipped eggs before. Not sure what you have humidity at, but I would try to keep it at 55% or higher for the rest of the hatch so the air cells don't get way too big. Because there is more egg surface area exposed to the air cell, it would make sense...
I candled all of the eggs last night and they are doing great!!! I had to remove one egg that had a blood ring but it had not yet been claimed. If I have counted correctly, there are 51 eggs growing!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💕
She’s a silkie NN with frizzled feathers. I thought she was black when she was young, but either she is very sunbleached, or is actually blue or brown, as she now looks more brown than black, especially in the sun. I thought the name Coco suited her, and it seemed a bit more classy without the A...
So sorry for the loss of sweet Coco last year. What a gorgeous and special girl she was. Love the flowers you got for her! I have a hen named Coco so I have a tender spot for that name. 💕
