Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

I'm still alive! I'm down to 17 birds at the moment, been busy working on the fruit farm so I don't have time to babysit an incubator this year. My Black australorp rooster of 8 years went to roost in the sky, but his son lives on. (also it turns out when you mix a black australorp and a...

    Eggs hatching on day 22?

This was a purebred batch (ameraucana, gold laced wyandotte and silver laced wyandotte) It's probably an 'ok-ish' thing that they didn't all hatch, I already have 58 chicks in a large pen outside, plus the 31 chickens I already have, my coop only holds about 100 and with one more dying this...

    Eggs hatching on day 22?

I gotta learn how to turn on the notifications for this website. I counted 35 heart beats on day 17, the ones I couldn't count was because the shells were too thick to tell, but when I did an egg-topsy all but 2 were fertilized, and they were all developed until at least day 17. Eggs hatching on day 22?

Hello, I was wondering if you guys could help? I've incubated eggs before, I got a hatch rate of 20/28 and they all hatched in the morning of day 21. I put some 'fancier' breeds in and did everything the same way, humidity averaged at 54% and never went below 50%, the temperature stayed at...

    Wheezing, Sneezing, laying hens???????

you should isolate the 2 with the symptoms, sounds like a URI. signs of respiratory illness in chickens include sneezing, wheezing, coughing, and runny nose and eyes. ... chicken respiratory infections can be so mild they're unnoticeable, or so severe that most of the flock dies in a short...

My first time incubating eggs: day 6

i don't know that placement too important, I just put mine in the corner and it went from 60% to 54% in an hour or two. EDIT: make sure it is a new sponge that doesn't have any chemicals/cleaner on it.

My first time incubating eggs: day 6

you can help bring down the humidity by adding a dry sponge. most people say to have it at 50-55% and then 65-70% during lock down, but i'm only on day 2 of incubating.
