Sorry it’s been a long time guys! Sadly I had to re-home all of my chickens and geese. Life got really busy I got a full time job and I was not able to devote all my time to them anymore. I have hopes of one day getting more chickens and waterfowl but that will be sometime in the distant future...
Update: I increased the humidity today, now I have eight starting to hatch! Externally pipped and everything! Thank you @CluckNDoodle, even experienced hatchers forget the simple things sometimes. And humidity was something I forgot to do that last time.
Could it possibly be that my hens are getting older? They are about 4-5 years old. I say this because my green eggs(which are from my newest hens) and my bantam eggs(which are new too) hatch when I incubate them.
No I do not. I always say I’m gonna calibrate it but I never do.😔 Just one, my flock. The last batch I did last year was from a different flock and they hatched good, but before that they had been hatching well. Most of the time it is only internally they haven’t made it to the external mark...
A lot of time I do and I really don’t know what I’m looking for🤷🏼♀️ Sometimes I can tell that it’s bacterial but other times they look perfectly fine🤷🏼♀️
I usually keep it between 30-40% during the incubation process, and being honest😳 I usually forget to up the humidity come hatch time so it’s not that problem🤷🏼♀️
It’s a mix of many breeds, and I usually take them from the boxes to the incubator. I never wash and I have a turner that does the job quite well. My temp is normal and I keep the humidity levels right for my area that I live in. It’s just been quite an awful year for incubating for me at least...
I need to calibrate it, I’ve had it now for about two years with no problems but now I’m starting to experience some difficulties. Like a way lesser hatch rate than before but it also could be our rooster because he is getting quite old.
Exactly!! So I’m not crazy!! I put my three olive eggs in like two days later than the rest and I woke up this morning with a hatched olive egg and they aren’t due to hatch till Monday!
@CluckNDoodle I think you had experience with the Nurture Right 360’s. Did you find that your eggs hatched earlier than the planned hatch date?? I have noticed that my nurture right always does great, but the eggs hatch earlier than expected and planned. It always catches me off guard and I have...
Hello all! First of all I can’t post a video, but I can provide pictures! I noticed she was hobbling around today using her wings and such to help her balance. I picked her up and examined her only to find nothing looks wrong outwardly but her left leg seems loose and lax like she can’t use it...
So I put one of my calico frizzle bantams in my wooden brooder due to a bad peck wound. As life would go she thought it was time to settle down and build a family. I was a little concerned Because this was only her first year laying eggs much less incubating them. I only let my broodies brood if...
Hello all! I have read that nipple waterers are the way to go, and I have a bunch of chicks that are due to hatch next week, and I’ve raised several several batches of chicks and I’m tired of the shaving filled waterers that the little devils love to fill. That has always been a problem. Once...
