Hi, thanks for asking. They are doing well. Don't show any signs of any discomfort. I haven't taken them to the vet yet. I'm dreading it. They all hate it and throw a fit when I have to do that. I'm wanting my back to settle down some before I have to go through it.
Yes I expect I'll probably have to take both of them to the vet. The one with the sunken appearance in the eye has been there for that eye problem before. So this will be a return visit.
This eye lining issue seems to be a very unusual thing, even though it affects 3 of my ducks.
You are...
Uh oh. It seems like some of my information is confusing. The eye drops were given for the duck that has the sunken appearance in his right eye. Not for the other problem. There hasn't been any treatment done for the eye tissue or liner. Sorry for the confusion.
Hello, I have a few ducks that have this weird skin growing out of the membrane surrounding their eyes. I can't find anything like it online when I researched. Has anyone seen this in their ducks? Photo attached
Also one of them has one of his eyes that appears sunken-in as well. It's been like...
Hi other duck lovers,
I have not posted here for a while now, long sad story. But I have 4 drakes that are always fighting when they're in the pond since it's mating season. They're also getting new feathers that are really pink, I just read why. Today when they came up to eat I noticed one had...
Thank you. I thought I'd seen other ducks with this line before but wasn't sure. I haven't been able to try and feel the area to check that. My ducks are so nervous, and this one is the worst. He won't let me near him if he suspects I'll try to touch him. So I'll have to try and trick him.
I...
Oh 35 days. Maybe that's why it seems so long. Mama is really dedicated to her job, she is on them day and night. I started giving her food and water I felt bad for her. I don't leave the food out, just when she wants it which isn't much.
The drake's have started getting the message that if she...
I have a wild Muscovy nesting in my garden. I wish I'd noted when she began but didn't. It seems like a long time though. Will she know when to give up and just stop if they're not good? I don't know if I should do something. The poor thing is so vulnerable there with all the drake's on my pond...
I think she'll begin to trust you again. I went through something similar when we had to treat 2 of ours for eye infections. They wouldn't come near us. We even had trouble getting them into their coop at night which we normally don't have. They free range in the day and come in on their own...
Oh good. I guess I consider them looking worse than they are because I'm comparing them to what they used to be. Like you said, all pristine.
"Then they look really silly and naked while growing them back for a few weeks."... And their crests were finally just filling in again after beating...
All 4 are drake's. And their feathers are definitely not soggy wet like yours were KaleIam. They just stay damp and brittle as you can see on the new picture I took. I should mention that we're in our rainy season now so there's that.
I guess this would be their first real molt, so I don't know...
Thanks! I'll try to get some better pictures today for your thoughts again. I just want to make sure I don't ignore something I should treat. It's not just that they're wet. The feathers are frayed and ragged. But if it is just molting that'll be great. Then I just wait for it to be over I guess...
