Ever since my cell is ready to record audio, duckie boy is not wheezing anymore.
Since 2 days he started running after adult females (he is already bigger than them). I guess that was as good a way to lose the surplus weight as any .
Luckily the adult males give him a pass for being "the...
I know, the males communicate with a wheezy sound, but I hear this ducky wheeze even when just plain breathing.
It does not cough or sneeze at all otherwise. Perhaps it is just too fat? The poop has often orange blobs of fat, as it loves getting pieces of chopped hot dog besides the crumble...
... I walked by the nests where duck moms sit on the eggs.
"Hi, how's the egg sitting business, eggsciting?"
(Then I thought: I must be going bananas. I'm telling puns to ducks.)
Happy 4th of July
My wife keeps telling me I should sell some male pet ducks because the females are getting raggedy from overbreeding. (Flock of 40.) I keep hesitating, because these are almost like family, they have names, they trust me, etc. Whichever boys I'd sell will miss their friends. Is there any...
What duck carcasses tell us?
I'm asking this because now that we are told that T-Rex had feathers... wait a minute! It walked on two legs, had feathers, tiny "hands", the beak is possibly decomposed early ... that's a giant duckling! 🤔
I tried the recipe I found online where one keeps eggs in lime water in a sealed bucket.
My first load had 4 bad eggs. Some partially spilled, so the lime water is somewhat stinky. I removed the 4 iffy eggs. Does anyone know if I need to replace all the lime water too to continue? Or will the...
Starting with 3 pet ducks a few years ago, I have 40 now. I got used to the fact that young (non-Muscovy) ducks girls go through an early stage where they quack up a storm for no apparent reason for a while, before quieting down as they mature. Does anyone know how long this quacking stage...
My pet ducks follow a repeating routine daily. When I open the gate of their fenced area at 8 am, the younger generation pours out with D-day-like elan, then the group of 6 seniors leaves leisurely last, headed to a different area.
Today, 1 of the 6 seniors died of ripe old age at dawn...
Thank you, Isaac.
It's amazing what difference our resuscitation made to the flock. (They were all watching it quietly.)
Now they treat me as one of the flock, even let me touch them. Until now I got respect & they'd move out of the way & skitter away from my hand. Now they come right up to me...
I am still coming to terms with this, but it appears that I succeeded in (briefly) bringing our oldest female duck back to life yesterday with mouth-to-beak. She already ceased breathing, her eye stopped blinking, there were no reflexes, nothing... so my wife started pumping the duck's torso...
The penguins are mostly singers. You can hear them honking back and forth with the sax in the intro. Because only audio was recorded at the time without video, (as for us humans) the penguins in the video are stock footage. Beats going back to Antarctica to video... :D
BTW, there is an online...
This is interesting. I went to the link but it shows dozens of articles. A search for "burial" turned up nothing. Do you recall the title or address of the article? Even a full Web Search on "burial of atomic bombs in the United States" turns up nothing relevant now.
One thing I noticed with my 20 duckies is that some drakes will just grow up into terrible characters no matter what's the ratio; they'll terrorize the girls, the ducklings, even chickens. Once I sold those 'gangsta males', see miracle - harmony came, the next alpha duck did not continue the...
