    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

I know. I wish I could’ve had them send her body for a necropsy. We’ve already spend almost $3,000 on sick animals this month so I didn’t want to even ask my husband about paying for something else.

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

We had Goldie euthanized last week. The day after we had to put our cat down too. A whole month of nursing sick animals and they died anyway 😩. I have 3 hens left and I’ve decided to integrate them with my mom’s flock. How long do I need to wait before I’m sure it wasn’t something contagious...

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

The last few days there’s been no change in Goldie. She just sits in her sling all day munching on spinach and tuna. Today I was changing her food and bedding and she started thrashing around a little. Idk if her nerves are wigging out or if she’s regaining some feeling and trying to move. I...

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

Thanks I actually just made her a sling this morning. We don’t have any chicken vets near us but my neighbor is a lot more experienced than I am. I’ll check to see what she’s done with ones that need to be put down. I think we’re about to that point.

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

Goldie is still with us. I almost wish she wasn’t. I feel bad she isn’t getting better. I haven’t posted in a couple days because my cat that had surgery a couple weeks ago ended up having complications so I’ve been trying to keep him alive too. It seems like Goldie is getting more paralyzed...

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

Her feathers look intact. They’re not thinning or breaking at all. And no feathers fall off when I wash her bum. Not much change today. Except she is grubbing the spinach I’m giving her. It worries me because she gets so much in her mouth and then she has to take a break before she can swallow...

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

Thank you for hearing my rant. I was feeling very sorry for myself last night. Today I brought Goldie out for some time in the yard. She is very happy to be on the grass, nibbling at the blades around her. No change otherwise.

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

Goldie hasn’t eaten much today. Maybe 1/2 of a scrambled egg. I saw her drink water a few times but even that seems to be slowing down. She talks to me when I go see her, but she barely tries to move anymore. A couple things I noticed today… Her poop is mostly watery/clear. It does have some...

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

Thanks I’ll add some B vitamins. Their feed is 100% dry. We haven’t had any moisture in weeks. In fact our temps have increased a lot lately. It’ll be in the 90s this week. Could the heat stress have exacerbated something already there? So, I know vaccination doesn’t 100% prevent Mareks, but...

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

I didn’t think Goldie would last the night, but she did! This morning she is talkative but still can’t walk/stand. She keeps curling the toes on her right foot so I brought her out to take a look. There doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with her foot, but I wiggled her toes around and they’re...

Idk if they ate any. My husband was the one supervising last time they were out. He was watching for hawks, not what they were eating. I’ll look into the charcoal, thanks!

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

No respiratory symptoms. They’re in their protected run 90% of the time but occasionally we let them wander the yard. My husband recently planted some peacock lilies while I was gone 😩 but from what I read, they’re only toxic to cats. Their Food is dry. I have no idea what’s happening. Btw...

    Unbalanced/head tipping up +vent discharge & death

My 4 year old chicken Goldie was unable to walk so I brought her in to check her out. I don’t see any noticable injuries to her legs or feet. When she stands she immediately loses her balance and tips over. I was watching her last night while she napped and it’s like her head wouldn’t stay...

    Single older hen attacking pullets

Helpful info, thank you! I love the idea of them switching places. Sweet Pea loves any chance she gets to be in there. I’ve heard of pinless peepers. I’ll look into them if these other tips don’t help. Thanks!

    Single older hen attacking pullets

My mom has a 1.5 year old hen (Sweet Pea) who came to her yard and never left. We bought 5 chicks to raise to keep her company. The chicks were raised inside but since being old enough, have spent a lot of time outside in a separate fenced area. They are now 17/18 week old pullets. Sweet Pea has...

    2 abnormal eggs a day

I have a 1 yr old golden buff (red sex link) that has had occasional egg problems since April. She will sometimes lay soft shelled and sometimes white banded… and sometimes both! Example…Today (June14), June 8, and also on May 31 , she laid a soft shelled egg and a white banded egg within...

Cage in run for bully victim?

Wow this is exactly what I’m seeing! My EE is sitting calmly in the dog crate while the other chickens gather around her assuming she has something they don’t. Because she was so calm, I let her out for a few minutes. She immediately squawked and ran to the coop to hide. I put her back in the...

Cage in run for bully victim?

Short story: can I put a hen in a separate cage in the run so she’s with her pals, but not getting her feathers pecked? She needs time to heal but I don’t want her to have a hard time reintegrating back in... Long story: The last few weeks I’ve notice my 1 yr old EE was missing feathers on the...

    Stained egg

Anyone have an idea why my EE egg looks like this? The last one of hers had that brownish stain also but only on the tip. **She’s started laying every OTHER day since we deep cleaned the coop. she gets stressed easily so I didn’t know if it was related to that or something medical. Also those...
