sounds like you are talking about Concord grapes. The wild ones are small and tasty. They are totally fine for chickens. Just expect a lot of colorful poop. My chicken coop got stained from my chickens getting into grapes. Mulberries are fine as well.

Actually the dog was removed by the owner and surrendered to the humane society. The dog did come back and attacked me when cleaning up the bodies of my hens
