They eat Nurtina Nature Wise Hearty Hen Layer feed. The feed says it has 18% protein, and they also get live black soldier flies, along with live feeder crickets. They have a 4×8 coop and then they free range on an acre of grass from sun up until sun down.
They eat Nutrena Nature Wise Hearty Hen Layer feed. They have free access to their feed, oyster shells, and grit. I've seen 2 do feather pulling (The one with the saddle, and the blackest one in the pics), but those two also have feathers plucked. They free range from sun up until sun down. They...
Really thinking about just switching over to ducks after this. I have 4 hens that get plenty of live bugs (I buy live black soldier fly larvae), I buy the best feed, they get all the scraps from our meals, and they have an entire acre of grass just to themselves. However they're eating each...
Your ducks will do just fine in the summer months free ranging it's mainly in the colder months you need to make sure adult ducks always have access to feed.
Thank you! That would explain why they're about the same size as the Mallards, but I don't think Hoover's Hatchery breeds those. However a couple years ago I bought some Easter egger hens and 2 ended up being silver spangled hamburgs which they don't breed. They do look like the blue fawn...
The KC and Mallards coloring and pattern haven't changed, but I swear the 2 light colored ducks are getting to look more and more like Orpingtons. It'll be interesting to see what they end up looking like :)
The KC are about double the size of the Mallards and the light colored ducks. I think maybe they're "mutts" the assorted description said they only ship purebred ducklings, but I'm questioning that haha. It also didn't have Mallards as one of the breeds they ship, but the 3 are definitely...
One is definitely a female she sounds exactly like a hen, however the other one wouldn't make a sound kinda just accepted defeat when I picked it up. I'm mostly wondering about what in the world they are. I have 3 Mallards (all female) they're about half the size as my Khaki Campbells there's 10...
You're just straight up wrong about the DE, and no one said anything about DE and ACV will do anything for fly strikes. All my worm free animals strongly disagree with you about DE. My rescue dog was filled with worms and 2 weeks later at the vet after giving him DE not a single worm or egg...
That's exactly what I did this morning as soon as they opened. I've lived in the same house for 25 years, and haven't ever had a problem until now. I get he's upset his dog got hurt, and ended up with a vet bill, but my animals aren't the aggressors trying to get into the other yard and barking...
