    Crop Squishy

How did this turn out for you? Dealing with crop issues and read your journey. I have never seen signs of worms but am thinking of trying that route

    Huge Impacted crop? Love her!!!

Here is a pic of her poop. Not much change today. Lots of massage. Some smell so it feels more like sour crop. I made a crop bra from a disposable mask which seems to be increasing digestive noises which makes me hopeful.

    Huge Impacted crop? Love her!!!

Thank you so much for writing back! We do offer grit however we moved the coop recently and it’s possible she had less access. It was full this morning, but more squishy and I can move the contents around easily, feels the same as it did last night. She did not ever vomit despite upside down...

    Huge Impacted crop? Love her!!!

Hello friends. We’ve never had an impacted crop before. This is a 3yo hen who we love, and she started looking off a few days ago. When I picked her up yesterday morning she was very light and her crop was super full. I read up on impacted crop and assumed that was it. I’ve given two rounds...

Chick less active and poor balance???

She did great! I followed the advice of this fun chick lady and made this “slurry” and gave by dropper for a few days. She perked right up. Good luck!!

Chick less active and poor balance???

I’m hoping this one does too. She weighs as much as her sibling but the laying around and balance issue is concerning. And the never ending peeping!!!

    Tiny loud chicks!

Thanks for asking! They are a week old and still the loudest chicks I’ve ever raised. Both are 40g, so still very tiny. Voracious eaters and drinkers and all they want to do is scratch and peck their food. One of them has had odd behavior the last few days and spends more time laying down and...

Chick less active and poor balance???

Thank you for sharing this experience! Did this little chick have trouble from the beginning? Our chick had a great first week, and then this kind of came about overnight. I am giving her dropper falls of nutrient, and it seems to perk her up a bit, but she still seems a bit unstable and...

Chick less active and poor balance???

Hello! I have a week old chick in a hatching of two eggs that were from a feral chicken and she is starting to act strangely today. Wants to be spending most of her time sitting/crouching, and seems more unstable when walking. She is constantly making a low-grade chirp and seems to be a little...

    Tiny loud chicks!

Things seem better finally! I put some shredded paper in the corner and it seemed to act like “scratch” and helped the chicks notice the food crumbles everywhere. It was hilarious. They also love the “o” type on all pieces of shred. They found the water very quickly Which is great. Hoping...

    Tiny loud chicks!

These chicks won’t stop pecking each other. I have never seen anything like it from litter-mates. They seem unable to find all of the food courses around them and are constantly pecking each others toes or beaks. I am constantly intervening…this is so unusual for me!

    Tiny loud chicks!

I increased the temp to 97/98 and they are more active but not quieter! I cleaned the egg yolk and shell off gently with a warm toothbrush and they are more fluffy…not completely fluffed though

    Tiny loud chicks!

Hey friends! I hatched a few chicks that were from a feral hen. They are extremely tiny, the eggs were tiny, but the hatch out was successful. However, they have not entirely fluffed and we’re on day three, they have some stuck egg yolk feathers on their back and one has it on their head. I...

Strange situation (incubating feral chicken eggs)

Hello! I know this is an old thread, but I am about to start trying to incubate some feral chicken eggs as well! Any tips? About the same humidity as you would use with non-thick shell backyard chickens? Also curious how the feral chicks grew up and if they have become tame, happy adult hens?

    Hatch assist marans- 1/2 success…

I think I’m giving up on trying hatch marans. It’s just too stressful! Is it this way for everyone? This was a mixed clutch of fertile eggs I popped under my broody. First babies completely hatched without me ever seeing a pip, right on day 21 (Saturday- out before noon). No movement or...

    2 chicks under broody hen!!

We came out today on day 21 and 2 chicks have hatched!!! 3 eggs still under her and no pips. They are maran blends (not her eggs) and I’m curious if they just have different timing, can’t pip or aren’t hatching? How long do we wait and should I try to help pip then like I would with an...
