    When can ducklings go outside!?

In NE Tennessee I put three week old ducklings out May 17th and they were fine. Plenty of straw down in the poultry room. Had the heat lamp off in our house most of the week prior. (Keep the house cool - 66 at night). It was earlier than I wanted, but due to travel plans….

    Please identify these drakes

Thank you! That’s what I was thinking too.

    Please identify these drakes

That’s what I was thinking for two of them. I’m wondering if the other is a blue Swedish mix.

    Please identify these drakes

Thank you. Yes, they went crazy eating grass and bathing / preening.

    Please identify these drakes

I picked up these guys for free - they were covered with stinky mud so their curly tails were straight, but their voices are definitely male. What breeds do you think they are? The folks didn’t know ages but they had them a year. Thank you!

    Rugg"egg"Ranch 30 egg incubator?

Wow. Tractor Supply asked for a review, so I did. Here is the email they wrote in reply: It cannot be published to the website, but... Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to...

    Incubating Chicken Eggs

I am new to incubating, but have found with the three sets completed so far that I worried way too much over them. Watching the GoVee graphing the heat/humidity the NR360 had quite a lot of variation, but all turned out well. I hope you enjoy the process and have time on hatch day to pull up a...

    Rugg"egg"Ranch 30 egg incubator?

You're absolutely right, Cluck Cluck. Definitely glad I put my GoVee bluetooth hyrometer in the Rugg. It is way off on both temp and humidity. Also, I did move bators (except the NR360 which is in lockdown with it's crocheted "sweater" on) into my bathroom where I am happy to keep it warmer...

First time: Incubation Lavender Orpington Rooster w/ Welsummer and EE

This is so much fun! I'm 8 days from hatching. One of the 13 (my lucky number) looks iffy after candling last night, but 12 look good. I'm liking this NR360 and the GoVee bluetooth hygrometer. Will start next hatch when this one is done. I have the dehumidifier in "cellar" on a timer and it...

    Nutritional Yeast vs Brewer's Yeast

Walmart brand says 17.1 mg per 1 T (5 grams) ... or am I reading that wrong? If my understanding is correct, the Walmart brand is better than Bob's??? Thanks for providing your research! New to ducklings and want to do right by them.

    Rugg"egg"Ranch 30 egg incubator?

Will do a side-by-side photo with NR360 when it arrives. Will use the same GoVee hygrometer in it when I test it out to see how it compares with temp, also. Now I can't bring myself to keep the house as warm as the Nurture Right instructions say, so do you think that may be why I'm showing...

    Rugg"egg"Ranch 30 egg incubator?

Tractor Supply has a 30 egg incubator with only one review: Rugg"egg"Ranch for $100. It looks a bit like the Nurture Right 360 without the candling light. Anyone know about it? They are not in stock around here, so placed a "pick up in store" order this morning. I'm new at this, but don't...

First time: Incubation Lavender Orpington Rooster w/ Welsummer and EE

Very interesting! I'm at Day 8 of my first ever hatching. Using NR360 - but hygrometer shows it's temperature fluctuates a good bit. It seems to be doing better since it's been warmer in the house the last couple of days, but we like the house at 66 nights.

    Question about Bresse crosses

I would be very interested in the results! I've been wondering if the hype around Bresse was legit. The North Star price increase recently made me stop and think before hitting the button. Appreciate the question and answers!

What do you get if you cross a rir roo and a buff orp hen?

Curious to know if there are updates to this thread?? I'm trying to stay small DP flock.

    Dual purpose breed choice

Being new to the "hobby" and forum, this sounds like really good advice. I can see right now that it would be easy to get wayyyy too many chickens. I'm liking rabbits for meat better than chickens right now. Would love your opinion on what a RIR rooster and Buff Orp hens will produce....

    NE TN new member

Glad to have this valuable resource as I'm getting started in NE Tennessee - almost Virginia. Almost North Carolina. Currently have a RIR roo with two buff orpington hens, 3 black broiler hens from Ideal Poultry (kept as an experiment to see if I wanted to have chickens during winter - moved...

Ideal Hatchery Black Broiler: honest review

Also interested in updates. Got a few from local farm supply. Very fearful but they were almost 7 weeks in their cages so hopefully will settle.
