What in the world is this? You never know what you're going to get at RK!

I went to Rural King here in Central KY and picked up some chicks, only to find that they were not what I thought I was getting. Does this sound familiar? I need help identifyng all 4 of these babies. I'm actually somewhat pleased as these look so interesting. These first 2 pics are from the...

Ive never seen a chick comb like this. What type of comb is it? I don’t know the breed. It was supposed to be a Jersey Giant but isnt.

I think that's an Egyptian Fayoumis chick with a messed up, though really cool, comb. Sounds too random of a breed to be in that bin but these things have to happen some weird way. I am raising up 2 of these right now, hatched last month. They're really distinctive looking but neither of mine...

Anybody want one or two cockerels? Starlight Green Egger and Calico Princess, both 11 weeks old and very tame. They've never had a fight. I'm in the Glasgow area, let me know if you're interested!

Hey everybody! I've got some young ducks available if anyone's interested. White layers and they're HUGE at only 8-9 weeks. Great for eggs and definitely meat. They're the biggest ducks I've ever raised. SR as they don't have their voices yet but they will be good for something whatever you end...

New ducklings! ASSORTED... any ideas on breeds?

That's good to know :) now is there any reason my suspected Dark Campbell is getting a lighter bill now? I'm still waiting on voices but even today I noted that its beak is looking more of an olive color than black. It seems to be progressively lightening. I'm really hoping it's a she and not a...

New ducklings! ASSORTED... any ideas on breeds?

It's not clear what the dark one is, I'm really hoping it's what Hoover Hatchery calls a Dark Campbell female. Not sure about the sexes yet as they are not changing from the rough peep of adolescence yet.

New ducklings! ASSORTED... any ideas on breeds?

The biggest thing when they were tiny ducklings that made me think the two stripe-headed ones weren't Appleyards is that their beaks were dark from the beginning. Not one of the pics of Appleyard babies online had all-dark beaks, but always somewhat pink which is what I see in your pics.

New ducklings! ASSORTED... any ideas on breeds?

I am still unsure! I have some updated pics, though. Looks like mine are not appleyards but some of yours look like they could be. They are so similar to Golden 300s, which I believe mine to be. At least the two lighter ones.

Cackle Hatchery Surprise! Now what in the heck are these??

1 - Dang, I was hoping it was something fantastic! I already have 2 of those. Ah well, I can take my pick this way. 2 - Here's a comb picture. Looks like a single. I hope it's a Phoenix! 4 - That's wonderful. I never thought to look at that one, assuming it would be like a wyandotte which this...

Cackle Hatchery Surprise! Now what in the heck are these??

If you can't tell, each chick is pictured twice. The first chick is really hard for me, it's not a wyandotte, I don't think, but may be gold laced. Its head has no wyandotte spots but a mahogany blush to its face. It also has a non single comb, not sure what kind. The second, silvery chipmunk...

Cackle Hatchery Surprise! Now what in the heck are these??

Okay, sorry I've been gone so long. I hope there is still interest in this thread! I have been having so much fun figuring these chicks out and have leads on so many of them... but of course there are at least a few total mysteries. I'm disappointed that a few of the breeds I really want to...

Cackle Hatchery Surprise! Now what in the heck are these??

Thank you! Yes, you are definitely right. I also found I have a Chamois Spitzhauben. It didn't have the mohawk for a week!

Cackle Hatchery Surprise! Now what in the heck are these??

Got my TWO, that's right, TWO Hatchery Surprise orders this week. There are some really interesting breeds and of course so many that I'm not sure about. One such breed looks kind of familiar but I can't find any pictures online to verify. I'll post some pics starting with the most...

Is my Muscovy hen a cross breed? How can I tell and does that make her infertile??

If I get a drake I'll have to make sure to get a black one! Thanks for the lead, I love lavenders so much.

We're in Barren Co. Is that too far? In a couple of months we will be in Adair and would be willing to meet as far as Greensburg. I will keep you in mind and let you know if we get any runners if you're okay with the distance!

I might get some fawn runners in a batch of rare ducks from the hatchery in April. I don't necessarily want to keep any runners so if you are anywhere near me we should talk! Not sure if you have anything you are wanting to let go of but I'd sell or trade. Is that what you meant or were you...

New ducklings! ASSORTED... any ideas on breeds?

I know! How is it that they are so much more irresistable than chicks? Chicks being incredibly sweet themselves, of course :)

Is anyone interested in some pullets/cockerels in a few weeks? I can't tell you exactly what they will be yet because they're coming in a Hatchery Surprise Box March 17th but I know for sure I will need to thin out as soon as the breeds/sexes become obvious. Possibly in May? There will be all...
