Thank you!
Looks like the polish farm is currently not selling anything due to storm damage. Thank you for the links for poultry shows.
I tried to see about how to register our rooster for the "Rooster Crowing Contest" on October 20th at the State Fair. I couldn't figure it out. Is it Pan...
We are trying to get the exhibition breed of plymouth barred rocks back into the flock.
We currently only have one exhibition plymouth barred rock rooster. We accidentally mated him with a hatchery small barred rock hen, not knowing how to keep the exhibition. They have a son and three...
UPDATE: We sold 4 cockerels. We have Copper, the Easter Egger left to swap for a hen. We are in the DFW area. I can drive to Parker, Johnson, Tarrant, Collin, Dallas, and Hood counties.
My goal is to breed high production blue eggers, high production olive eggers, and if possible perhaps a blue feathered bird with black lacing that has high production. Other outcomes to be easy sells. We are trying to make this easy as breeders to sell what's hot on the market. :) I know I need...
We have an Ameraucana, some Silver laced Wyandottes, some Plymouth barred rocks, Easter Egger (BR rooster + Ameraucana), Mix (BR rooster + Silver Laced Wyandotte), Mix (BR rooster + Black Australorp), and some Blue Cuckoo Marans.
Thank you. The current hens we have are:
4 barred rocks
2 silver laced wyandottes
1 ameraucana
3 blue cuckoo marans
3 mixes of - one easter egger BR over ameraucana, one BR over black australorp, and one BR over silver laced wyandotte. So all of these 3 have the single barring since their...
Thank you for the education! I live in Fort Worth and am in search for true breed standard heritage barred rock laying hens. Do you all have any idea which company/farm/homestead sells them?
Okay this makes sense how color is distributed. I like looking into the science. Back in the day, since I'm in my 40's now, I really loved the Genetics class in High School. It was my favorite subject and I'm excited to breed chickens. It will be neat to accomplish this goal. Thank you to...
Very interesting. I was beginning to think with the other comments that our eyes were playing a trip on us with a dark blue colored lacing. The stacked grey sounds more likely.
Okay, thank you. I'll see if there is a black laced blue ameraucana and if there is, I'll just use that. Otherwise the blue andalaisian and blue ameraucana mated would work as you mentioned.
I see one rooster and three hens. The rooster look like a white bird with black stripes, while the hens look like a black bird with white stripes. The white stripes are thinner on a hen.
Thank you! Very helpful. Looks like we should invest in a black andalaisan, splash andalaisian and breed them together and then breed that offspring to the blue ameraucana. I think I got that.
Does it matter if the rooster is a black or splash andalaisian, or does it not matter?
And does it...
In Fort Worth you are allowed to have 12 chickens (2 of which are roosters). So up to 10 hens, 2 roosters. No rooster is allowed to crow for 10 minutes or more. If so, it is an unlawful noise nuisance. 50 feet away from any human inhabitable structure. This number is for 1/4 of an acre. I...
How would I breed to produce:
100% blue feathered offspring with black lacing?
Would this offspring be recognized by the American Poultry Association for a poultry show?
Is there any way to breed my way to a blue feathered, black laced chicken that lays blue eggs?
