We lost our girl too 😭same exact thing pooping out egg yolk so I believe it confirms our suspicions. I’m glad she is no longer in pain but so sorry we both lost our hens. Honestly I’ve seen a lot of people posting similar issues with their hens makes me wonder if something is going on. Or if...
Thank you all for this information I have a 2 year old hasn’t laid in over a year and acting the same way I suspect I’m dealing with internal laying or egg peritonitis. I will just keep her as comfortable as I can and try some antibiotics if they will help.
Just wanted to see how her Hen is doing? I have a girl with the same symptoms she hasn’t laid in over a year I suspect peritonitis as well. :( today she seems worse was going to start antibiotics and jumped on to get some advice.
I’m curious to see myself as my flock of 12 stopped laying early December. I have one younger hen that gives me a couple eggs a week but going from 7-9 a day to that has been hard! We had record lows here last week in Georgia with 19 degree nights and snow! Now this week we are going to see 72...
Lost one of my SGEs this morning 😞no signs of anything wrong just found her this morning. Was curious if anyone has lost an SGE and if so what age. She was only a year and a half. And my only SGE actually laying green eggs.
Thank you for the reply! The foot looks good that’s why I was confused. She may have been trying to clear her crop like you said as she seems much better this morning. She was hiding next to the water with her eyes closed just constantly drinking and I assumed the worst. She is in the egg box...
I have a chicken that cut her foot a few days ago. We soaked it, cleaned it and sprayed with antibacterial spray. Seems to be healing fine but now today she is very lethargic and drinking a lot of water. I suspect she has an infection. I have treated with amoxicillin before but I currently only...
She looks a lot like my Willow when she was young she is a SGE. Only issue with SGEs is they don’t always lay green eggs I have one that’s a brown layer 😕
Oh good I know it covers NF mites can’t speak for lice as thankfully I have never had them! The first round I did they came back then I read even though it says one time for a bad infestation you should treat again in 10 days. Did another round followed by one in 10 days and they were good...
Yes finally we had to deep clean the coop pulled everything out. Actually changed to sand for the run I think deep litter was not helping the issue. I dusted everything including every bird with gardstar I’ll add a picture got it from tractor supply. You have to re treat in 10 days to make sure...
Same she is one of two that get messy feathers I was thinking vent gleet and have treated her for it with no change so I’m not sure at this point. Please keep us posted if you find anything that works! I’m about to go look up egg drop syndrome:) Thank you
Very happy to find this thread I have a blue egg layer that stopped laying right after Easter hasn’t laid in over three months. Very healthy only 1.5 years old guess she is just taking a long break 🤷♀️
I would give her a good bath to clean up any mite dirt I just did mine in warm water and Castile soap. Really clean that vent area good. And finished by dipping her in clean water with some ACV in it (was told this by an old timer to help soothe the skin). I also upped her protein intake to 22%...
I’m having the same issue with one of my leghorns I did not see any lice or mites on any of my chickens. Then today I noticed something crawling on my egg box doors I pulled up the nesting pads and there the were all over! I treated the nesting boxes and changed out the pads. I will be treating...
I know for me it’s fun to just see the mixes and their different personalities. I got SGEs hoping for more green eggs with the Easter egger personality and that’s exactly what I got 🥰 actually my 2 are some of the sweetest I have ever owned. And really good layers!!
Thank you I will look into a saddle. We went bigger on our coop and run we only have 9 chickens and it’s rated for up to 16 plus they get let out at sun up into two very large fenced and covered yards. She is definitely toward the bottom of the pecking order 😞oh and no roosters here thank you...
My sweet girl buttercup has been laying large then usual eggs the past few weeks. Because of this she has gotten a small prolapse. I have been spraying her daily with Vetericyn and she was doing well but now I’m noticing she is being bullied!! Poor thing is getting pecked like crazy on her...
