    Liver Support Recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for good liver support remedies, supplements, etc? I have a hen acting normal, but lowered appetite and pale yellow urates. Ruled out reproductive issues, no water belly. Hoping to perhaps get in front of what may be going on, with a good liver support...

Lethargic, yellow and dark brown poop

She's not overweight and not labored breathing or open mouth breathing since she's been inside. I've been continually checking her belly and it feels normal - not swollen, not like a water balloon or anything else. Urates are still yellow, but a pale yellow. Stools are still soft and smell...

Lethargic, yellow and dark brown poop

So, as an update, she laid a perfect egg this morning. There was no discharge or anything. Would this happen if she had a reproductive infection? Should I be considering parasites? Your thoughts? Thanks again!

Lethargic, yellow and dark brown poop

Thank you so much! You have been super helpful, and it means everything! Her energy is getting better and she is wanting out of the kennel today. Eating better and better, but her belly below the vent DOES feel a little enlarged (but honestly, I've never felt her there before now, so I...

Lethargic, yellow and dark brown poop

I would imagine she has been laying eggs, but I couldn't tell you for sure. I have 18 other girls and all their eggs look the same. I haven't seen any remnants of shell, yolk or egg white in her stool. She pooped in her water bowl and I took a picture (see attached) - it looks mucousy and...

Lethargic, yellow and dark brown poop

Found my 10 mo old jersey giant hen under the coop yesterday afternoon, cold, snowy 30 degree day. She was breathing with mouth slightly open, fluffed and not looking good. She weakly walked out from under there, towards me and I took her inside. She might have ate 1-2 cc of yolk and...

my buff orphington is making broody sounds but has not started to sit on her eggs yet. is something wrong?

Ok, so I sat out there and watched and observed what might exactly be going on. It looks to me that the orpington hen walking around clucking and being chased by my rooster (Franny), is fighting with my blk autralorp (Sassy) who is top of the pecking order. After they start going at it, Fergus...

Chicken clucking VERY LOUDLY, walking around doing nothing

Ooo, I didn't think of that. They will fluff up and cluck around all the time before a molt cycle begins? Interesting!

my buff orphington is making broody sounds but has not started to sit on her eggs yet. is something wrong?

He is a cuckoo meran roo and the same age as the hen. They were raised together and up until now, I believe she was one of his top girls (at least in his top 5). They always got along before. She has a little area of missing feathers on the back of her head from mating, but nothing concerning...

Chicken clucking VERY LOUDLY, walking around doing nothing

Well that's lovely, lol! I've read how others break broodies, but the techniques that work the best in ya'll's experience would be most helpful!! Many thanks! :)

my buff orphington is making broody sounds but has not started to sit on her eggs yet. is something wrong?

My orpington hen will be 1yr old this April and is laying. She started this "talking broody" for 2 days now. Since this has started, my rooster keeps chasing her and she keeps running from him, getting up out of reach until he goes away, then jumps down and forages while clucking until he...

Chicken clucking VERY LOUDLY, walking around doing nothing

Wow, Ok - I just didn't think that they went broody in the winter. Is that unusual?

Chicken clucking VERY LOUDLY, walking around doing nothing

I have a orpington hen that has been walking around the run consistently clucking non-stop in the past day or two. It's not loud, or obnoxious, just moderate noise level. When she gets close to the other hens they peck at her as if to say, "go away". My rooster won't stop trying to chase her...

Is it ok to move a laying hen out of nest?

This is my last warm-ish day to treat for what I have now confirmed is leg mites. I need to clean out the coop and give it time to dry before it gets to late in the day (52 degrees high / low 30 tonight). All my nesting boxes are full of my girls laying right now, off course. I really need to...

How do I manage a rooster just hitting puberty : A Confluence

Human skin is pretty delicate. I don't think they can calculate the degree of force needed to break skin vs not breaking skin. In a chickens mind they're instinct is to know the force needed to communicate with other chickens who have a thick layer of feathers, not thin skin. They must learn...

Thank you - this was very helpful! Getting lots of ideas from previous posts on run clutter 🤗

    Integration

Yes, they can dig around and have many digging spots. There's a large multi tier roost in one corner where they like to perch and look out a lot. I could add more tree branches, and maybe mirrors? I hang cabbage and other stuff occasionally (actually doing that now). Any enrichment suggestions...
