Hi! I'm gonna be hatching some of my ducks eggs soon I've got female ancona, and swedish ducks, and the males are swedish and pekin. Anyone have any photos of what they might end up looking like as babies or adults? Thanks!
(I attached a picture of what my ducks look like)
I actually took her inside the house this morning and sat on the couch with a towel under her. I fed her gave her water and waited til she pooped. everything there seems good there and her posture is normal
I mean it could be happening but I haven't noticed anything, her feathers aren't ripped out or anything and she doesn't seem nervous around them so I don't think so but again it's entirely possible
So just FYI this is not any sort of life or death emergency just some weird behavior thats been worrying me. I have 12 ducks (anconas pekins and swedish) the pekins are 2 years old and the rest are 8 months old. Normally they all hang out in a flock together and are kind of skiddish towards the...
Bad news. I open the eggs this morning and both babies were gone. Looks like they stopped developing several days ago, but were grown enough that they had all there external structures looking like birds.
Thank you all for your encouragement and advice with this. Just wasn't meant to be this time.
The doppler thingy didn't show a heartbeat:_(
I think I'll wait until tommorow morning (day 20) then break into the air cell to check if the babies are okay. I'm thinking they aren't but I want to check just to make sure.
My mom says I can try to use her old fetal heart doppler (for people babies), so I'm gonna try that later today. I want to wait til tommorow to try anything invasive.
I did go under a blanket this morning and candle them. neither have an internal pip but both are completely dark (besides the air cell) which is further development from day 14 when I last candled
It was floating low in the water and once it was still it didn't wiggle, per say but it was completely still the kind of rotated a little bit then spun slowly for a second til it naturally slowed down. I'm not really sure what any of that means though..
I truly can't even tell whether that's a pip or just a crack. But it is kind of suspicious that I've managed this long without cracking them and on hatch day that shows up. Should I try the float test or something or just wait it out? I'm just worried if that is trying to be a pip if the baby is...
