This is the closest to celadon I’ve gotten, not even sure if it’s actually even celadon.. lol
I‘m kinda wishing I never bought eggs from that seller. I have a bunch of small flighty birds now… not really sure what to do with them. I bought them with the intention of breeding, but I don’t...
My roo definitely has a bump on his head, it hasn't really gone down at all. He doesn’t like me touching it, probably sore. My hens are looking way better though! I believe it is from the fox scaring them. Hopefully his little head will go back to normal soon :)
This is what her head normally looks like. My pens aren’t very filled out at the moment, so I think it is the fox scaring them and making them bump their heads. I’ll have to make working on the pens a priority this week! :)
A few of my quail look like they have gotten bumps on their heads. I am completely stumped. Does anyone know what it could be?
There has been a fox coming multiple times a week. Could they have gotten scared and bumped their heads? That’s all I can think of.
They’re acting normal otherwise...
I hope she pulls through! Has she tried moving around at all? The way she lays worries me. Hopefully she’ll have an easier time once she dries off and stretches out. Assisted chicks can be a coin toss.
If she will drink liquid, maybe you could try making a soup out of her food so she can get...
I’ve had the most success with this for correcting splay leg. It is a stainless steel sauce cup, and I wrapped a piece of paper towel around it to create a wall so chicks can’t jump out. I pad it with paper towels to make it more narrow which forces the chicks legs underneath their body. Kind of...
Starting to get eggs :jumpy
Going to put some in the bator at the end of the month for myself and a local farmer! Super excited to hatch my own eggs, I’ve been waiting all winter :p
My absolute favorite bird from my flock :) She was from my first ever hatch about a year ago, and was smaller than the other chicks. I didn’t have a spare brooder at the time, so I raised her and another small chick in a cardboard + styrofoam box on my bed. She’s a character, still very friendly...
Babies from the last hatch feathered out. Most of them gave me a lot of stress over winter, they were not as hardy as the other birds in the cold. I had to keep a few of them indoors over winter. They’re cute though. Some are supposed to lay celadon, we’ll see!
