Unfortunately he passed today, i had brought him inside to care for him and warm him up , i was giving him electrolyte water, and this morning he was barely moving, and he died shortly ago ☹️
i will definitely do what i can for ventilation, i dont want anything else to happen to any other birds.
Its a gazebo with windows and a door, i do not know the temp in there but its not extremely hot , i can step in there and it feels pretty comfortable. Thats good to know about ventilation, i could maybe crack a window to it if its not enough?
I thought so too, i have had birds get minor frost bit in the past but never this bad.. im in indiana, we just had about a week of really fridgid temps, a little bit ago. the coop is completely closed off and has heat lamps.. thats why im so confused ☹️ i hadnt noticed it til today because it...
This little guy usually is very lively , We have heating in the coop, so its not cold in there. Whats wrong with his comb? Ge has been slow and lethargic all day as well. Usually i cant hold him, but he has no issue with it rn..
I hope I’m uploading this in the correct thread.. I had posted about a little mixed rooster on here a while back wondering his species, well let’s just say I’m on the verge of wanting him gone. I live with my brothers and dad still, and none of them have any issues with this rooster. However he...
Here’s an update on the babies, we’re only down to three now sadly but they’re getting their feathers in. These pics are from a couple days ago
This Rouen is quacking already!
This one’s the smallest and idk yet if it’s a male or female since I haven’t heard any signs of quacking and has...
generally the other ducks have no access to them during nights and when they’re outside the coop the mom and babies go off on their own, so that’s why i think if it was a coop mate that it was a chicken.
they all reside in the same coop but the mom and the babies have been sleeping in her nest which is inside a big cage. i found the baby outside the nest, the only thing i think i could see injury wise was the eye looks like it may have been poked out but it was hard to tell. i usually let them...
some sad news today i was feeding the mom and her babies by the lake and i counted only 6 babies , when there was 7 before. i found the baby dead in the coop :( i’m unsure what happened.
there’s 7 babies, happy we had some successfully hatch finally 🙏
the one with the most black is my fave. they’ve been hatched a bit now just forgot to update. super excited to see how they turn out tho because at least some of them,if not all of them the dad is (presumably) a cayuga
she got off the nest this morning to get some water and i checked with a flash light and all 5 eggs seem to be fertile and hopefully close to hatching soon (forgot to mention we found out she had two more) most of them the air pocket in it was at a slant.
i just checked and there’s no babies yet, i found one that died previously that was burried in the hay but all the eggs are still under the mom. i have no clue if the eggs she’s on now are even fertile :(
our females are all rouens. we had two broody moms in a cage we had left in the coop they decided to make nests in it, 3 babies hatched and were dead upon finding them, we came to the conclusion it’s likely the other mother who killed the babies so we took the one who lost her babies out and...
okay i checked the coop again and there was a dead baby outside the nest!! i tried to heat it up and see if there was any life but it seemed it was dead far too long… what’s going on?? our ducks our as far as we know at least, new moms….
i’m so distraught! today i checked the coop and found two seemingly normal eggs on the ground, one was broken with green inside so i assume rotten.. then i spotted one that had a red hue and another with what looks like a pecked hole and blood and black feathers! they’re nowhere near any nest...
