    Freezing Temps

I’ve done a search but can’t seem to find a definite answer. At what age can chicks survive around 32 degree temperatures without supplemental heat? Thank you!

    Cough/Rattle/Eye Bubbles

Right now, I have fourteen total. I’m going to do as you suggest and not add or get rid of any, and see how it plays out. Thanks for the input!

    Cough/Rattle/Eye Bubbles

My entire flock has been acquired within the past several months from about four different sources. This doesn’t sound good for sure.

    Cough/Rattle/Eye Bubbles

Three of my chickens seem to have respiratory problems going on. Each has a cough or sneezing with a rattling sound. Today, I noticed eye bubbles in the eye of one. Any information and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have them isolate, but I’m afraid I may have a problem.

    Whiting True Blue?

I’m sorry to hear your result. I would think the hatchery would feel some responsibility for your time, expense and effort. If I decide to use mine, I will also get the testing done, but I’m probably in the same boat as you. I will likely just look for another rooster. Thanks for the update!

    Whiting True Blue?

Thank you for the information! I would sure like to know your results. I won’t incubate any eggs out of him until spring. If I decide to keep him, I will definitely send in a sample. I‘m still thinking he may be a WTB who very much shows the leghorn in his breeding. The hen is almost...

Can a fertile egg be refrigerated and later be put in an incubator?

I recall, from many years back, a hen hatching almost her entire clutch of eggs that were exposed to open outdoor, near or very likely below freezing temperatures and even light snow before she became broody.

    Whiting True Blue?

It appears to me that his legs are dark green and his ears are white. Who knows what I have bought?? My search continues!

    Whiting True Blue?

Even though I much prefer a pea comb, I could live with it if I felt confident he is a WTB. I am just having serious doubts!

    Whiting True Blue?

I contacted the seller. He stated he purchased these as chicks from McMurray hatchery 2-3 years ago and unless there was a mixup at the hatchery, they are absolutely True Blues. It was the only breed he ordered and most of the roosters had large straight combs. He seems to be an honest...

    Whiting True Blue Question

I hope it’s acceptable to ask this question over here also. I purchased what is supposed to be a pair of Whiting Tru Blues. Everything I read indicates they can come in all colors and forms. However, this huge comb on the rooster is making me question if he is in fact a WTB. I just don’t want to...

    Whiting True Blue?

Thank you! So, has anyone had or seen one with a comb this big?

    Whiting True Blue?

I just purchased what is supposedly a pair of Whiting True Blues. Did I get what I paid for? I guess my concern is the rooster’s very large comb. I certainly wasn’t expecting that. However, I know very little. Thank you for your thoughts!

    Game hens stopped laying

Just noticed this post. The hen on the right is probably from a family of Hatch and the one on the left possibly Kelso or Round Head, or crosses of those families.

    Cross Breeding Question

Thanks to your suggestions and more reading, even though I really like my Ameracauna, I’m now leaning toward a Whiting True Blue rooster to put over my hens. It seems that would be very much a shortcut to where I’m wanting to go.
