He will also sometimes do the egg song, like if he gets a really high place and is feeling it, he’ll start singing it.
No eggs, i don’t think it’s a hen. Hens don’t have this comb. I’m assuming he’s just taking awhile, so i won’t really press too hard about it until he’s about a year old.
He...
Hello! So about 8 months ago i bought 2 porcelain d’uccle chicks. They both turned out to be roosters, lol, and i rehomed one. This one, i thought was a hen for the longest time until he started crowing. He only crows once a week or so, but he has the big red comb to prove it’s a boy. I’m...
she is completely different from the roo. she is half his size, no saddle or hackle feathers that i can see, and i monitor pin feathers closely. basically a whole different color than the roo, since he is more orange. Roo has crowed and the hen has not even sounded like she tries to crow. she’s...
Of course! They’re still young so they’re still on unmedicated chick food. They also have chick grit available to them at all times. They like to snack on my pigeon grit sometimes and they like to steal seeds from my pigeon lol. But they always have chick food and grit available to them
It’s just a treat! I give them all sorts of greens and carrots and things. Mostly I give them the comfrey I grow and they love it and it’s healthy for them
He has stopped with his gagging! Thank you all for your replies. He stopped about 10 minutes after he ate the leaf but from then I’ve been cutting up food for them.
I have had chickens before, I adore them, but I was a kid, lol. I don’t remember everything they did specifically but it is nice...
Hello.
He is a 7.29 week old porcelain d’uccle. I gave them some little pieces of tomato and lettuce and I didn’t see one leaf of lettuce dropped on the floor. He swallowed it whole since he didn’t want his sister to get it and I’m worried. He has a habit of swallowing things whole. I had to...
They are about 6 1/2 weeks :)
Here is her comb, featuring mr roo :) absolutely no change in her comb.
He’s a pretty boy! I’ll be posting him in the Washington thread soon. He is almost fully feathered and ready to go.
Final call for if this one is a roo. They are 34 days old. Getting rid of the cockerel soon. I want to know if I can keep this one for sure. I’d rather they not bond too hard before they part ways.
Tail feathers are a little suspect to me. Hoping it’s a girl. Clear difference with the roo.
28 days today! I’m sure pink is a roo, and I am working on a new home for him. If anyone is in the Spokane/coeur de Alene area he is free to an egg laying flock 😁
Here is pink (rooster)
And here is green!! (Hen??) very little change in comb from about a week ago.
What do we...
That’s what I’m thinking! Pink is definitely a cockerel. I’m hoping green turns out to be a pullet 🤞 since there is no change in the comb but lots of difference.
Hello all, I appreciate the replies. Hopefully I have at least one pullet. I won’t be rehoming them until they start crowing. Here are some better images of the combs
Pink/Chick #1
Green/Chick #2
Any ideas are welcome! They’re 21 days old tomorrow.
