Comment by 'RedRooster706' in article 'Table Scraps and Leftovers for Chickens'

So many people spend a fortune on their chickens. Coops, runs, food, toys, vet visits, etc. I can understand if you have a award winning show chicken. I have always fed my chickens table scraps. I employ the use of the KISS philosophy. If they eat it good, if not the goats will.

    Daggum FOX!!

I'm sorry for your loss, Penelope was a beautiful bird. Grammyshell is right, get an electric fence, with at least 1 hotwire, preferably 3, spaced 4" apart. Even with a Roo, it's not enough. Ok to feed raw hamburger meat?

I wouldn't go out of my way to buy chickens hamburger meat. Just supplement their diet with table scraps. Don't throw it away, try feeding it to them first. You will get a good idea what they will eat and won't eat. Mine won't eat pasta.

Are raw pine tree logs poisonous to chickens?

Pine is not poisonous. I'm doing the same thing, building everything out of pine I felled. Cheaper than what Lowes or Home Depot wants for their pine boards. I've read other forums about this. It's funny to see the dumb clucking replies.
