I was considering getting Loxicam for my hen with sprain leg. How much would I give her? There is no heat in the knee joint so I just think it’s sprained. The joint is slightly swollen and it is painful to her especially in the morning. I get her off the perch before she can jump and have made...
We have taken the perched out of the coop they like in the daytime and I’m checking my camera in the morning for when they start waking up and I’m going in and place her on the floor. We have tried to eliminate anything outside she may jump up or down on.
I got a screen shot in the coop and shows her legs on the camera. You can see the joint on the left is a little bigger. She does hold it up a lot and has a limp when she walks.
I’ll try and get a picture. She holds it up some but not all the time. Mainly thinking it has something to do with the swollen joint. It’s just a little bigger than the other.
One of my 3 months old Dottie’s has hurt her leg somehow. She is limping and the joint seems slightly swollen. She can jump up to the rooster but getting down seems to hurt her. Any suggestion of what to do to help her. She eats well and manages to stay up with the other girls.
I can get another tomorrow from my daughter. Just want to see if she would accept this one. They are from a regular size chick but this was the smallest egg.
Since Luka is so broody and lost her sister yesterday. I decide to get a fertilized egg from my daughter. I put it under her and she seems likes she likes it. Question is, she is so broody I have to hand feed her and make her go out to poop. How do I make sure she poops while on the egg? Is it...
Well, I lost the battle to get Lucy heathy. She was treated for parasites but always had poop issues and crusty butt so bad that it blocked up the vent. She seemed to bit better yesterday and actually went out side with me taking her. I’ll miss but now she at peace.
My other silkie is broody...
Lucy died during the night. She was doing much better yesterday evening, actually eating crumblies and went out the coop. Today was suppose to be her vet appointment. So sad now Lula will be. Lucy must have had something chronically wrong with her. She always had poop issues and never laid an...
The Oxbow Critical care was given to me for Lucy when I took her in to the Vet before for other poop issues and low weight. She loves it. I put her back out with her sister and she seems happy. I have Rescue 911 in their water and have set a dish of yougurt out for them. I’m going to drop her...
My silkie is starting to be constipated. Has had issues with loose poop and vent getting crusted. She seemed to be over that. She had parasites and treated. I noticed it this morning and soaked her and gave her Oxbow Critcal card with ground up Tum. She is just standing in the cage and occasion...
Lula, the silkie still broody but no eggs for over a week. She was laying almost everyday and would leave it. I decided this morning to lock her out of the coop awhile since is a very cool morning even we n for FL to cool her but down. It was as hot as a firecracker this morning. I hope this...
I only have the two silkies. Both are acting broody but only one has started laying eggs and leaves them and won’t use a nesting box. She lays thin on the floor in a corner, the other silkie has not started laying yet But she is getting over a respiratory issue and is 7 months so probably that...
I’m too in FL and have two broody silkies. First time chicken owner. One lays egg but does not sit on it. I take it so my other chicks don’t eat it. I hand feed them both egg with crumble in it and the I set them out and closed the coop door. Going to leave them out until it starts raining. Not...
