Why is my white Jersey Giant not giant?

I asked him again. He said: "Well, I'm 100% sure she's purebred. But my personal experience with white chickens is that they're always a little behind or don't develop quite as well as the others."

Why is my white Jersey Giant not giant?

Thanks for your answer! No, I haven't weighed them, but I picked them up and she is definitely lighter. I mean, the height of her is the same, but she has less muscles. The guy from whom I bought them, said he only owned Jerseys when they hatched naturally and then these 3 blacks hatched and...

Why is my white Jersey Giant not giant?

Hi there! I bought 4 Jersey Giant hens in March. They are from natural breeding and siblings. Now they are 11 months old. I've got 3 black ones and one white one. But why is my white hen so slim? Is she still gaining mass? Is she just growing slower? In comparison you can see one of my giant...

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

Now it's official! This one is a guinea egg. Just saw my Petra laying it into a chicken's nest.

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

We feed our chickens their own shells which we break before so that they have enough calcium for their eggs.

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

No, I don't, as all of the chicken roosters we butchered had little stones in their stomach. Should I?

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

As the shell should be really hard to break, I beat it with my finger nail, but it cracked a bit. That's why I put it into my pan. And as you can see, the yolk looks completely different.

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

And this one? It weighs only 30 g. I just found it. We've never found an egg here before which was that little. It was in one of our chicken nests.

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

Is the texture uneven? There are little dots on the shell. Can you feel them with your fingers?

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

Thanks. Looks to me like a normal chicken egg.

Could this be a guinea fowl egg?

The left one is a Marans egg (65g) and the right one the unknown type of egg (55g). Or is it perhaps a Sundheimer or a Jersey Giant egg since we have these races since recently. I know, guineas should lay their eggs outside the coop but perhaps my guinea lady doesn't? :) Greetings :)

Any good pics of your guineas?

I got guineas because I was told that they keep away the hawk. We had a lot of hawk attacks in the past. Since I have my two guineas, the hawk wasn't successful since then and that is 3 months now. I even saw a hawk coming once and when the guineas started to scream it flew away. And I'm going...

Any good pics of your guineas?

These are my favorite photos cuz both of them look so cute on them that I wanna cuddle them. But for this they are too shy. Fortunately, I managed to get both of them to go into the coop on their own after one month of hard training. Before that, they were even more shy. Schorsch (grey one) and...

When is the coop training enough?

They did go in again :)

When is the coop training enough?

They DID go into the chicken coop this afternoon independently and roosted on the bars :D

When is the coop training enough?

Thanks @R2elk and @SamLockwood for your long answers. "f your chickens have places to go that's out of the guineas' line-of-sight and they're inclined to let the guineas have their way, thinks will be OK" We do have a very big free ranging area here, so this is possible. My plan is to get...

    Winter

I put two little red lights into the coop because I read about that tip in one article. The two following nights, the male and then the female guinea went by itself into the coop when it got dark. Before, I had to drive them. At the moment, I have one guinea locked up in a cage in the coop and...

When is the coop training enough?

Hi there! I own a couple of guineas since two weeks. I first got them with unclipped wings. Like the breeder said, I locked them up with the chickens in the coop for one night and 4 hours in the morning and let them out then. They were very shy and were always some meters outside our property...
