    Our new coop!

Made it better. Moved to better spot. Egg I placed on top but they’re using them! Also trying out pine straw as bedding. Cedar roosting bar is nice touch.

Yes! Thank you! They’re not using nesting boxes. We need to make them cozier.

Comment by 'Virginiachickens' in article 'Broody Breaking ala aart'

All very helpful! I put mine in a wire crate and she’s just lying down like it’s her nest! When I remove her from it she goes right back to the closet door where her old nest is. So I put her back in jail.

Just wanted to share this. We’ve been working on it for months after work. It’s the mini replica of another bldg on the property. 4’x8’ with cedar siding and a slate roof! we’re going to have a total of 12 in here.

Bantam Rooster with Full Size Hens-I've Got Questions?

I’m so happy for this thread too and for BYC! We’re about to introduce 8 new hens to our flock of 2 bantam hen sisters, an ancient barred rock, and a faverelle bantam rooster. Thanks to all! Yes I kept them from their nest and they rejoined flock and are back to normal now. I didn’t realize they stop laying during this period post-broody. Thank you all!

Is it better to lock a broody hen or let her roam to break her out of it?

Don't they have to lay their eggs somewhere during this time?

Breaking my broody hens - question about where they lay their eggs

Quick question that may already have been answered somewhere but I dont see it. I have two broody bantams that I am breaking. I have done a good job and they are back to mostly being neutral chickens haha, but I have locked them out of their nesting box area and am wondering - where are they...

    Hi from Virginia!

Look forward to being a member. Already learned so much from y’all! We’ve got a small flock of bantam hens, a barred rock hen and one faverelle/silkie rooster. Looking to expand once we get our new coop built. My first question is about my broody hen but I guess I’ll post under that thread. Thanks!
