HELP, very swollen vent area on several of my Coturnix Quail

I discovered this to actually be normal. If you squeeze it, you should see white foam coming out. That bulb has to do with breeding, it pretty much shows up during breeding season. Conclusion is there's nothing to worry about, it's a natural phenomenon that is not painful and can be a good sign...

Can someone tell me what type of quail this is?

It looks a little like a Juvenile Chukar, mainly due to the thick bill with a reddish tint and the hints of an eye stripe, but the plumage doesn't quite match. :idunno If you could get some more pictures with a little better lighting, might make Identification easier.

What subject are you a nerd in?

To be fair, I just glanced at it, noticed the speckling, and called Red Wing. I didn't necessarily take note of how dark it was. Again, a little rusty. Lol

    Mites in my Feed???

I'm wanting to know what the heck is going on in my feed??? All my feed is stored in storage containers for weatherproofing in the outdoor environment. I've noticed this phenomenon in two separate containers, but so far only in the crumbles. A few weeks ago, I'd reached the bottom of my chick...

    It’s only a flesh wound but…

I had one really badly scalped quail that healed up (scabs and all) in a week! Was in bad shape too, almost all the skin on the back of its neck was gone. Tended to it twice daily and put it back in with the others once all the scabs were gone only a week later.

20 week old chick made a bloody poop?

Mine were up and moving too a bit, in fact I didn't even notice anything wrong until the first pullet died. In my opinion, it's better to be safe than sorry. Coccidiosis is a parasitic infection that attacks the digestive tract, hence why a big sign and symptom is blood in the stool. Corid is...

20 week old chick made a bloody poop?

Start treating with Corid for Coccidiosis, here is a very helpful post on doing so, https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/one-dead-more-sick-urgent.1628975/post-27819330

20 week old chick made a bloody poop?

I had two pullets and a cockerel die within hours of showing signs of lethargy and bloody stool. Get Corid and treat ASAP! It's the only reason the rest of my flock is alive today

    One Dead, more sick! Urgent!

Sulfa does require a prescription most places, at least with any local or online vendors that would be able to ship it in a timely fashion. Jedds will take just over a week and a half to ship. I also need to amend my previous statement, I wasn't able to truly look this morning, I have not seen...

    One Dead, more sick! Urgent!

Well, yesterday was the last day of the five-day Corrid water treatment. I'm happy to report I've had no more losses so far! My hen that had been sick has made a fairly rapid recovery, her poops are solid again and she's very active and eating and drinking without issue. I did however have two...

    One Dead, more sick! Urgent!

Is there anything I can do for coccidiosis associated enteritis without a vet visit? There are no vets in my area that will touch poultry. I looked this issue up and absolutely believe enteritis could've had a role in the death of my three pullets solely based on how quick they died from first...

    One Dead, more sick! Urgent!

I have checked the feed, it's all fresh. I'd just purchased new bags of the starter and scratch a few days ago. The hen that's sick now is four months old and full grown (Leghorn). Not sure on exact weight but feels like three or four pounds when I carry her. I've given her mixed Corid water...

    One Dead, more sick! Urgent!

I feed my chicks the DuMor brand of 20% chick feed, and once they reach about eight weeks I add in a little bit of scratch on the side as well as chick grit. I gave her 0.5mL of Corid directly as soon as I purchased it yesterday morning. However, unfortunately she was dead by this morning. I...

    One Dead, more sick! Urgent!

The last pullet's condition has significantly worsened since this morning. Very lethargic, not eating, and she vomited when I went to pick her up. Her crop is soft and squishy, and just feeling it up caused her to spit up more clear liquid. I don't think she will make it through the night if she...
