Taken over the last three days.

It’s funny, cause since I’ve released the pullets into the rest of the flock no one seems to be interested in establishing a new pecking order. The gunieas and turkey are chilling together, the cinnamon queens are palling around, nuggy and chicky and chilling over in a corner and the og chickens...

Had a chick hatch yesterday. Today I can’t hear her chirp and the hen won’t move off of her. Im not sure if more hatched or not and I’m afraid they suffocated under the hen, or is this normal?

First day/night outside and they’re chirping a lot and all huddled together. It’s low 70s outside… is there some sort or adjustment period? Or did I just throw them to the wolves?

Upgrading the chicken holder 3000. This area will be fore my 7 pullets for now, but will eventually be boarded up to make a hen house. More upgrades to come

My last Rhode Island Red, Rhodey, died early Sunday morning. Started having issues breathing spent hours trying to find a vet who would see her. Lost my composure several times. She died shortly after. It was so random and happened so fast… I don’t understand it.

So we got the original two…the. They survived for two weeks so we got four more… then one died so I went back to the store I bought them from to replace it… ended up bringing home a bantam, a turkey, and two guineas…

things are going well and the wife and I decided to continue our learning. New members to the flock! Starting with just two more. Eventually we want 12-18 total and we want to hatch some of our own

I was at work and my wife called. One of the missing chickens returned and my daughter chased it around the yard until she caught it!!!! She’s now safely in the run, reunited with the family. Not a great resolution picture, but I haven’t made it home yet. She needs a name. She disappeared before...

So I bought a new home on some property… not a whole lot, but enough for what I want to do with my remaining years, and keep in mind chickens were part of the plan. …at least eventually. well the last owner didn’t take his birds with him and now they are my problem. I’m in over my head…
