Modifications on Producer’s Pride Sentinel (so far)

I had planned to do the same thing but I want them to be able to dig in the dirt and I don’t want to run the risk of a foot injury. We ended up lining it with pavers and we use tie wire like twist ties around the locks. It’s only been a week or so that they have been out but so far so good!

    Herb List?

I know most replies discouraged you from using the herbs, but there’s a reason plant medicine has been around for thousands of years. If you want to learn about the medicinal properties of plants then I encourage you to look into herbalism! Just because it’s not what everyone is doing, doesn’t...

    First time outside!! 🌞 🐥

Mine are still in the brooder but I’ve also made enough modifications to where I’m happy with it! My fiancé didn’t even want chickens, so trying to get him to help build a coop in time for the chicks to grow up caused some.. tension 😇 Getting a prefab coop saved my relationship so I really can’t...

    Can't sleep!

You should get yourself a brooder plate if you’re talking about a heat lamp. They still need heat and if you’re worried about the light disturbing them, then a brooder plate takes care of that!

Modifications on Producer’s Pride Sentinel (so far)

I had considered that but there are metal pieces along the edges of the roof panels. I’d have to cut through those and I worry about losing the integrity of the frame. Now that I’ve opened up the front, I think I might be okay but I’ll keep it in mind as an option in the future if more...

Modifications on Producer’s Pride Sentinel (so far)

We technically don’t have a frost date but we might have one freeze and nights in the 40’s for a few weeks each winter. I went with your suggestion and added ventilation along that top portion. I also made a big cut out where the door slides open and covered it all with HWC. I plan on making the...

Should I mow yet? Or let the bees eat till spring breaks

No Mow March (or May depending on where you live) is definitely a thing! I’m thinking about keeping it going into April but we will see how much the weeds annoy me lol

Please show me your hot weather coops

This is a long shot but any chance this man is still building coops? This is exactly what I want for my Central Florida coop! I’d he’s not still around, any chance you have more detailed pictures so I can come up with my own design? Thank you so much for posting!

    Affordable Fun Finds

Thank you for the suggestion on the boxes! I got two and two of the little pallets. I’m excited to see what they do with them. I also scored a T-Rex shaped mirror and idk if they will like it, but it makes me smile 😅

Modifications on Producer’s Pride Sentinel (so far)

Hi everyone! I’ve been making some modifications to this prefab coop and I was hoping I could get some input! We only have four, 3 week old bantams so far and my plan is to beef this up so we have something ready to go and not stress, but also build a bigger coop and run. It sounds like having...

    The Gun Thread

What would be the best firearm for euthanizing chickens? I’m new to chickens and my babies are only three weeks old right now, but I know this is something I will probably face at some point. I’m very sensitive when it comes to animals and they will be beloved pets. Cutting off their heads or...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Two weeks old and yes I have grit available. The one I was worried about seemed a lot perkier today so I think we are good. Thank you for all of your advice!

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

I’ve got four baby bantams so I’m only doing a tablespoon of feed at a time in a mason jar lol. I hope one day to have a big enough flock to use a 5 gallon bucket! One of my chicks isn’t doing well, is it okay if I continue to feed her the FF? I’ve started treating with Corid just to be safe...
