Just to update - looks like all the questioned birds are pullets. The one I really thought was a male from early days (comb got orangy pink) is a girl too. I'm so glad, she has such nice colours (very light blue). Her and the cockerel for comparison. 11.5 weeks

In that case I've got nothing to worry about - planned 10, have got 23 at the moment (after 6 silkies are gone) - one is a male i have to cull, 1 male I am keeping for now but don't have to and 1 is a (mentally) disabled chick (don't know the gender) which will be gone at some point.

Oh now I get it 😅 Smart decision! I've just sold all my silkies for the same reason (space). And was lucky because that guy took all of them including 2 cockerels. I will have to sell Australorp pullets too because now I've got to many 😅 (if the questionable one is a girl that would make it 12...

After 2 weeks I have only one doubt: no 1 from this post. Pretty red (not as red as in the photos but still pinkier than the others) but comb and wattles seem not to be growing. What do you think? Exactly 8 weeks today.

Yes, those large combs. I don't have the fastest developing males though so it makes it more difficult. Still, some of the females have tiny combs, some don't. Go figure :idunno

That's about right then. You hatched 13 birds from what i remember. So around 50% is a fair and expected number 🙂

1-2 another one. I think it's a pullet but i'm not 100% sure. 3-5 the one with yellow and black bands -the same story, not sure. Will try to take more photos at the weekend but you can start placing your bets, @maceleneo @Shipgirl 😅

They will be 6 weeks on Saturday. Most od them i know what they are but there are a few question marks. 1-4 i thought it was a male, now not sure, the comb is pink but not growing at all :confused: . In photo 4 (s)he's next to the cockerel, on the right. 5-9 bigger comb and wattles but again...

Thank you so much for asking! I don't think she's blind actually. She might be mentally disabled or slow 🤔 I went to take some photos of her and she was looking at the phone and she jumped on it with this warning scream 😅 and just before she was pecking on some plants i chucked in the brooder...

I just checked on my lot and I'm quite sure i have 2 more males apart from the two I kept intentionally. They looked suspicious before so I expected that. One more is questionable - small comb but bigger wattles. I should have quite a few girls though, so the hatch split would be around 50/50
