Hi there!
My name is Samantha and i'm fairly new to back yard chicken! I'm from the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. I found this website after deciding i wanted chickens and now i'm on here almost everyday reading and learning new things and tricks.
My newest chickens are my 4 sermas, a pair...
i was sold sick chickens about a month ago and now my small 5 bird flock all has ms AND mg..... the state vet recomended depop and i've been tossing up the idea. i love my birds- specially 2 of the 5 but i dont want anyone else to get sick birds from me.... so im leaning towards culling...sound...
Well as of this morning she is happily sitting on 12 eggs! Fingers crossed that she has committed! Super excited that my broody transplant worked! Ill keep everyone posted
Hey Randy,
just figured id let you know i found a nice broody today! i picked her up tonight, set her up a "broody cave" (dog kennel with hay lol) and as soon as i sat her down she plopped down just like they were her own so hopefully ill have some chicks soon!!
i may take up your egg...
oh right...hmm weird. i didnt think about that. could it havew been the membrane itself? maybe it poked through and twisted it around himself?? im not sure just a thought
see this was a freak case. the chick could be completely fine now. i would feel good if i was you, you could have saved him, IMHO you did the right thing!!
im located near the casino in charles town... i think im a bit full but thanks for the offer. i posted on craigslist and found a nice production red that had been sitting for over a week. i picked her up after dark set her up a little "broody cave" (dog cage with hay lol) and she plopped right...
i've helped many of my chicks and they have done fine. i think that its the persons own decision....there isnt a right or wrong really. you just have to decide if you want a "special" chicken if thats how it turns out in the end.
i am in urgent need of an already established broody in the eastern panhandle of wv.
