I agree that both the chicks seem to be male for the same reason listed above. I have raised these for several years. Not sure about the BR.I have some but have not hatched chicks from them yet this year. gs
I see Kassaundra has already crossed the NN with a barred chicken of some kind. Did You keep any of them to maturety or breed them back the 2nd time? My NNs are very tame, so are the barred rock hens, the BR roo is slightly agressive.I will put tem back with the original pure breed flock later...

I also have NN only 3 hens and a roo. All my chickens are full blooded, but for the winter all are housed together. I was thinking of crossing a NN roo with a plymouth barred rock hen or vis vrsa this spring. Does anyone know the result? will I get any barred NN?
