    Hen Savers

Well, first I would suggest taking care of your roosters spurs. Have you trimmed them any time lately?

    Hen Savers

Do you intend on using them for roosters? I've actually never had to use them, but I've heard from quite a few people that it really helps keeping the hens back protected from the roosters.

    What would you do?

First of all, mothers do not abandon their young if a human has touched it. That is a myth. Second, honestly, I would have taken the babies the first day I saw them. Guinea's are the worst mothers I have ever seen. My guinea hens will roost up in their tree (Yes, they have their own tree. ) at...

    Will the spurs grow back?

Quote: Not off hand, but I'll go and check if my roosters need their spurs to be clipped. If there are any I'll make sure to take some photos and upload them here.

    Phoenixs

Housing them seperately from the rest of my flock, or each of them by themselves? Because I plan on keeping them seperate from my flock, but I also plan on keeping them all together because I couldn't bare to have a chicken without a buddy.

    Hatched out a chick today!!

Another one hatched out, and another one is pecking at its shell! So happy, I'll have 4 chicks. Hopefully they'll all be hens, I have enough roosters running around as is. xD Thank you both. Nice.I hope all of them hatch for you.Is that an orpington? No, I'm not quite sure what the mother is...

    Hatched out a chick today!!

Ahh! I'm so happy! To be honest, when I put them in the 'bator I wasn't even positive that they were fertilized. Then towards the end I was very doubtful. But now I have a little chicky that hatched out, and two more that are breaking their shells. The first one to hatch out. I helped him a...

    some people r to much

COMPLETELY agree. I, myself, am infact a vegetarian. HOWEVER, the type of veggie that you are talking about even drives ME insane. However, it's not just the veggies that are that way. I've met quite a few people that eat meat that go out of their way to annoy me and tell me that my beliefs are...

Why do kids do the things they do?

Haha, that is too funny. My nephew does stuff like that all the time. He used to have a little toy 'cave,' when he was younger, and he still tries to fit into it.

Will I be able to keep chickens from jumping my fence?

I would suggest perhaps getting a bit heavier of a breed and just clipping their wings. That only flaw with that is that you have to check them every so often to make sure their wings haven't grown back. OR, you could get some taller (4-5 ft.) chicken wire and run it along your already standing...

    New chicks!

good luck, just to tell u something first, be really patient with Sumatras because they grow really slow. Oh yes, I know. But that's fine because I'll have my Phoenix's that I can obsess about as well. Too cool! Best of luck showing them! Where are you getting them from? Thank you. To be...

    Will the spurs grow back?

Quote: I don't usually judge it by age but more by size. In fact, I have some roosters that are around five years old and because their spurs never really got big I never had to do anything about them.

    Phoenixs

So I'll be getting a few Phoenix's this coming month. I'm super excited for them, and want them to do their best in show. So I was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips on getting their tail as long as can be? I've raised quite a few chicks before, so I don't really need tips on raising...

    New chicks!

So over the winter, I've lost ALL of my showing chickens. (Except for a few roosters) From the cold weather and from nasty animals getting at them. So I've ordered a few (20) chicks that I'll be able to show this year, and I'm so excited about them. I haven't gotten an e-mail telling me when...

    Will the spurs grow back?

Quote: Instead of cutting them, which is dangerous, you can take a pair of pliers, place them at the base of the spur near the leg, and twist until they come off. It removes the outer sheath of the spur leaving a much smaller spur underneath. I do this to all of my roosters. Just make sure to...
