Just saying that I am very tempted to get a Feather Footed Bantam special or a Silkie special from Ideal. I you get 25 you can get them for .90 and $1 a piece right now. Would work on the broodies that need chicks instead of infertile eggs.

Sulfur salt. The yellow salt blocks. They discourage mosquitoes biting your goats and horses (real important if you are south far enough to be in a West Nile Disease area). The sulfur will also cut down on your rhino cold viruses. Using those I didn't have to use any antibiotics for 5 years...

I got some pictures of my OE broody Crystal today. This is a painted cardboard canister that was used to ship bulk spices. It used to have a lid and was used to store winter clothes in until it got water damaged from a water heater leak and was morphed into a chicken nest box. I think...

I have a broody! Crystal, my silver OE hen, has decided to sit eggs. I stuffed eggs from my other hens under her. So she is sitting on SPBWs, OE's, and OE/Sapphire and one SPBW/SBEL. Finger's crossed.

Yes it does sting at first. You can cut it with water if it is too strong. But it will absolutely cut the pain in half in under 15 minutes. If you have second degree spot burns you may want to go with honey on those areas. I got burned in Florida as a kid on the first day of our vacation. Mostly...

Wet a piece of cotton jersey (T-shirt cloth) with apple cider vinegar and dab it gently on the sunburn. It will stop the pain and then you can use some aloe vera gel on it.

I wanted to show off the only chick that hatched at Easter (the rest was quail). She is half Sapphire and half Bantam Silver Penciled Wyandotte. She has the rose comb. I know that the comb is real pink for 6 weeks but her feathers said female one the second day and the vent sexing (third week)...

My Great-Grandma Henson was a retired school teacher from Arkansas. She used to tell us great-grandkids that your brain is a muscle and if you don't use it daily it will get limp and weak. Everyday she would work the New York Times crossword puzzle. She died at 96 and it wasn't until her health...

I used to have a hoe axe before someone stole it from me. It was marvelous at cutting brush down flush with the ground. and it looked exactly like it sounds. Just like a hoe but with a heavier and chiseled head.

It has been a weekend! Saturday just at sunset a blind turkey staggered into my yard. At first I didn't catch on that it was blind but it kept walking in circles and running into things. So I decided to catch it. One rodeo later including grabbing and only getting a whole tailfull of feathers as...

All right, I just managed to leave the Tractor Supply store without chicks. I am home and now wish I had got them. Maybe. I want some Silkies and they had some unusual colored ones. They also had Lavender Cochins. I have to buy six but six would put me over my 12 maximum that I agreed to with...

That's it! So good to know. I may have to go back for those Lavender Cochins. They were awful cute. Bantams only count as half a LF bird right? I am supposed to be keeping my numbers at 12. But that was large birds.
