I'll only check if she leaves the nest. I had a broody last year and it was a mess. Several eggs cracked and made a mess. Two hatched. We grafted a few more chicks on the hen... And then a raccoon got all the chicks and watching poor mama search for the young was the saddest sight ever

@Sally Sunshine I am setting 15 eggs tonight for the Easter Hatch-a-long. I have 12 easter-eggers (some should be olive eggers) and 3 Barnvelder eggs - all from my flock. Will be a little late - but almost decided against setting... I'll be moving soon

Cleaned everything up this afternoon. The last one was having a hard time breathing - I did follow the "assist" instructions to give it a chance, but it wasn't going to bust out of the shell. On the positive side, I did my taxes while waiting...

Post-Mortem pics... This was my oddly cracked egg that never changed much. Mixed Breed. You can see where the shell had popped off while in the incubator. The rest of the shell easily peeled away from the inner membrane. The beak is towards the little end Inner Membrane removed...
