Many thermometers, such as my AccuRite, work like that. 97 is 97, 98 shows as flopping 97-99, 99 is 99. I have another one that reads even numbers only. If I put them both in, one is right.
DH talked to our son last night, who completely ignored the instructions to NOT TOUCH THE INCUBATOR and was following the instructions on the GQF hatching guide to maintain humidity between 45 and 55%. So he's been opening it daily and adding water, when the air cells were already nonexistent...
Whhhhat?!?! So do you just run it dry and hope it fixes itself?
For once I really don't have an answer. But I know embryos need to exchange gases through the air cell, so I lowered the bucket and will drain the reservoir and let it run dry until I am home.
First run of my new old rebuilt GQF 1402...
Using the water reservoir and water pan made my air cells disappear in 2 days with 45% indicated RH. That should not be. But it is.
I had the top vent open, I just opened the lower vent all the way too. I'll cover half the water pan as well. I...
I'm so sorry. Is there anyone who can help you with the incubator while you are gone?
Hopefully since the temp was so low the eggs haven't started growing yet, especially if you don't see anything when you candle. Look really, really hard. How long will you be gone? A day or two?
If you...
Thermometers are not like old stoves. They don't say low, medium, high. They have precise digital numbers. Mine, for instance, reads 99.6 on the eggshell.
What does yours say if you take the temperature of the middle of the side of the egg? In the area highlighted on the picture?
When...
Many of the ear thermometers are instant read. Simply take a reading on the egg shell. If it's 99.5-100.5 at the middle of the egg immediately after opening the incubator after it's been closed for a while, then all is good. CH, can you please test that?
